I took it to the only off road shop in my town and they said the same thing Firestone Auto said... we will NOT adjust the caster out of Toyota OEM specs. I ended up having them do the CMC but still rubbed slightly on the pinch weld. I did the pinch weld mod which got it to rub even less. I still had a little bit of rubbing when turning about 20-30 degrees and hitting a bump (turning into driveway) but a little more heat gun work and removing some more plastic has remedied that. All of the rubbing I experienced was on the back of the fender well. It never rubbed on the front. It was a labor of love trying to solve the rubbing issues on the stock off road suspension but I would do it all over again. I absolutely love the pizza cutters & the extra ground clearance. I know a lot of other people on here state that the pizza cutters will not rub on stock suspension but I wasn't one of the lucky ones. And I have a very loving wife that would remind me every time she heard it rub :)

Any help appreciated. I know this is the most overasked question, but time for some new rubber and feel like I can go a bit bigger, want some help from you pros out there.

2020 Tacoma TRD Sport (6'Bed) I have a basic 1.5" Spacer lift and 1.5" wheel spacers. Currently running 265/70R17 KO2s, what do you think i could get up to without trimming? And i like the stock 17x7.5 rims it came with. I know some guys dont like em, but im a fan. Thanks for the help and happy cruising.

With stock rims 255/80/r17 should work without rubbing. The wheel spacers could cause you to experience some rubbing. It's more about the wheel offset than the lift size you have. I was able to run 255/80/r17 on stock TRD Off Road rims and no lift without rubbing. I did have to remove the front mud flaps though.

I tow, off-road, drive in snow/ice, take road trips and carry heavy loads. 255/80/17 Wildpeaks. Absolutely love the tire and the size, no issues whatsoever.

I would recommend them to anyone I know.

Co-sign of the last two statements. I'm also running 255/80/17 on the T4R Pro wheels and beyond needing to do some slight plastic trimming and heat gun molding, I haven't had any issues. I've put my truck through just about everything at this point with no issues.

I have a 2020 TRD Sport all stock. Is there a difference between T4R Pro wheel and the wheel that comes stock on the Sport? I’m looking at having 255/80/17 installed next month.

I just purchased some Method Racing 703 17x8.5 0/4.75" wheels and some Falken Wildpeak AT4W 255/80r17s tires and had them put on my truck today (2022 TRD OR). Got a call from the shop and said they wouldn't fit. I have stock suspension, for now. I was under the impression that these tires would fit, with some light rubbing at full lock. Did I miscalculate? The shop wouldn't say if they put the tires on the truck and tried upselling me into a Rough Country lift, which I don't want. I was planning on going with a Fox 2.5 mid travel from Accutune Offroad.

You don’t need a new set of coil overs or top hat spacers to fit the tires. Your wheel choice will make it more difficult to fit them, but they might fit fine with the right alignment. Stock wheels are known to work. Others are more of a crap shoot

I wish there were a few more tire options to pick from in 255/75/17 since I think they would be perfect on these trucks. It would also be nice to see a 265/75/17 as well, but that seems to be just a figment of my imagination.

Hi! I’m in the market for new tires and considering 255/80/17s. I’m on a stock 2nd gen TRD sport with 4Runner ORP 7-Spokes (+15 offset wheels with 265/70/17s currently). Will 255/80/17s fit with this wheel setup and no lift? Ive already removed mudflaps and I’m prepared to do so cutting if need be

It should post #360 of this thread seems to be running this size/spec. However, the new Wildpeaks are a little larger in size so you might run into some rubbing but if you are prepared to cut then you should be fine. I'm on a 3rd gen so I suppose I'm not the best to answer this one.

Planning...suspension, front slimline bumper, winch, full skids, 2" lift, SCS Ray 10's, Pizza cutters, Power Tray, Switch-Pro, Alu-Cab Contour Canopy.
Nice Truck, I have the same one (color + Yr) and I want to put on the same tires. Only diff is that I am going to use SRS Ray 10's 16 X 8 4.00"/BS -12 offset and I am going to do a two inch lift in front and and RTX leaf pack in back.

My question - do you think a lift would have helped with the rubbing (Solved it?). I'm trying to figure this out myself.

    I have 285/70/17 now.

if I go to 255/80/17 do I need to do any extra trimming or anything? Will they be taller than what I have now ? Thanks.

oh and can they handle this weight?

Most 285/70-17 are 32.8 inches tall. 255/70-17 is a true 33. They are also E rated. Only rubbing you may have will depend on you wheel choice.

The negative offset will increase rubbing potential. Every truck is different and alignments can help.

255s fit easier than 285s if you cut to fit 285s you’ll have no issue I assume but again depends on offset. The overall “height” of the wheel will be altered by the stretch of an 8.5” wheel. I think a lot of 255s are measured off 7” wheels.
Also 255s will handle the load just fine. They are normally E load rated.
