You think I could fit 255 85 16 on a SCS F5 -25mm 3.5bs, on stock suspension without a CMC? I don’t mind trimming other places. I can’t find anyone running this offset and tire. Curious your thoughts. How close is it to the cab mount on your setup?

I had to do CMC on top of my lift. Even now it is still pretty close.

@blitzkrieg3002 most of the guys on the 255/85/16 thread had rubbing issues on the front fender and CMC when they ran wheels with more poke than a 0 offset.

glad to read this. I'm about to go from 265/75r16 Cooper AT3 LT to the 255/85 STMaxx on stock wheels

edit: 2" lift in front, 1" in rear

I think posts like these can be helpful.

I just put 265/75r16 on my completely stock 3rd gen off-road yesterday. No evidence of rubbing yet. It looks great in person even if not extra cool for the Instagram crowd. It's a practical size if you want to keep mpg up along with 255/85. I just wasn't crazy about skinny tires and there's just too much other stuff you have to do to run a 1" wider tire (285/75r16). I'll probably run stock for a while to get a feel for the slightly bigger tires and then maybe get new wheels and maybe a small lift at some point. Cheers!

How are you liking the ST Maxx compared to the wildpeaks? Road noise, mpg and snow traction wise. My truck is stock height and will be that way for a while I’m afraid til I can afford a lift so I’m thinking of investing in some 265 75 16 ST Maxx for now to pair with my SCS F5 -25 Offset. I go back on forth on which tire to try. I love the sound of durability of the ST maxx. But they’re like $300 more for a set of 5.

I run the tallest heaviest 255, the Toyo MT which are 33.5 vs the 32.8 for the ST Maxx. No rub on stock wheels, Eibach lift, mpg not any different then when i had the 265 Falkens, ride is more responsive, i prefer it. I have also had the ST Maxx on my F150 and two JK’s. The E load is non issue if correct tire pressure is used. The extra weight is pretty minimal. I suspect i will go ST Maxx next set again because they last a little longer than the Toyo in my experience.

I wish this forum didn’t scare ppl away from e load! Old school thoughts need to die off. A quality e load will ride nice! A cheap tire will ride like crap. A c load tire that is over inflated cause someone thinks they will get better mpg will also ride like crap.

You got any side profile shots showing the poke on those tires and -12 wheels? I’m tempted to go skinny and trying to gauge how my -25 offset f5’s will look.

I currently have 265/75r16 ST Maxx’s and will probably be upgrading to 255/85 soon. I’m at 39k miles on the tires and hope to get 45k+. My only complaint is they have been impossible to balance and pull to the right, which is common from what I’ve seen from others.

I can’t believe I found this thread. Exactly the tire options I’m debating. Thank you.

I have 255/85/16 st Maxx on mine I am probably going to go back to 265/75/16 wild peaks for the snow. The st maxx in the skinnies have been a crap show to keep balanced for me but are amazing tires overall.

I’ve got a full size spare in the bed for the 255 so I need to figure out what I wanna do lol

The only thing that would make this post better would be a front and rear view for width comparison but that's being picky. Glad I found this post, just sold me on the skinnies. Thanks brother

What do you say about road noise for the ST Maxx versus the Wildpeak AT3W?
I thinking of going from my AT3W 265/75r16 to ST Maxx 255/85/r16 but worry about the road noise since I commute 90 miles a day on the highway.

I went from 265/75r16 Wildpeaks to 255/85r16 ST Maxxes. There is a tiny noise difference but I can't hear it really with my engine, and especially radio.

I absolutely LOVE the ST Maxxes though. Was snow wheeling last weekend and had 2 people asked if I had lockers. I do not, just fucking awesome tires

So for whatever reason these new e rated wildpeaks are much quieter than the st maxx. The st maxx was a great tire and stayed quiet the whole time we had them. My wife has sl rated wildpeaks that have about 9k miles on them and they are a bit loud. If you want the maxes I say go for it. The road noise will be negligible in difference.

I will say make sure you keep the truck in alignment if you off road w the maxes. They wear really badly if they are not aligned and balanced regularly
