I figure since we were talking about 255's and everyone and their mother has 285's that your picture was 255's.

you really like them alot? i cant get over the narrowness of them for some reason

Ya like them a lot. But I run 2 sets of tires and rims. These are primarily for the mud, snow and offroading.
Then I run 265-75-16 toyos for my daily driving. I commute 200 miles in 4 days. Not good for mud terrains.

Where can I buy them? I am going probablly with the KM2s, but I love the KM1s....If I can get my hands on 4 then I'd buy them over any other Mud Terrain.

285s look good on most trucks I am really worried about sticking out too far. I like the height of the 255s, but the skinny tire might not be good for the road. Can anyone tell me if spidertrax wheel spacers with 285s on my truck will look goofy?

They'll stick out pretty damn far. I ran 285/70/17s with 4.5" backspacing rims and they sat flush in the wheel well.

Skinny tires will actually get better gas mileage and as long as you're driving it like a truck and not a race car you won't notice the difference in cornering. They talk about it in the article. Seriously a great read.

Completely changed my mindset when it comes to offroad tires and how I wheel. It's all about increasing pressure at the contact patch more than running huge beefy rubber that eats your CVs. If I can make the same obstacle with pizza cutter 33s and smart use of waffle boards and lockers that another guy throttles up on 35s or 37s than I'd say I'm making a pretty smart decision. It's been said plenty of times that the IFS is the weak links in these trucks so you're better off running the smallest tire you can get away with. 255/85/16s get you sidewall height and clearance while reducing weight and rolling resistance compared to 285/75/16. Perfect compromise.

i actually found that my truck handled BETTER on the street with the 255/85s...the strength of the sidewall added to my springs completely made up for no sway bar and i could corner way better than i can now

Wider tires look better. Skinnier tires perform better. Unless you're in the sand or snow.

Well to be honest, the only offroading will be very light mud and boat ramps. you said that the 285 are going to stick out a lot...Its just not my style IMO..

the sand and snow was what changed my mind. being as that we are getting lots of snow and my wheeling spot is around the lake there is alot of sand the 285 was the end choice for me

also keep in mind that these 255/85s WILL RUB on a 1st gen tremendously if you have a spacer lift...

i had my SAWs off for a couple weeks to get them rebuilt and ran a set of 3" spacers...ridiculous rubbing...even with trimming and hammering the pinch weld
