I like the 255/85/16 tire size and wondering how different the automatic trans shifts with these. Any advice would be helpful. Thanks

I have 265/75 KOs on my stock OR wheels. We had a really mild winter in MA, so I never switched back to the ATs for winter. Didn't need to.

holy crap man are you a 4banger? I can almost squeak 21 out after adding the 7.5% on my bighorns (that weigh a lil less but that is most likely negligible factoring in the mt vs at tires)

No, the v6. I'm sure I could get the mpg up more if I averaged 55mph, but then is get pissed and take it up to 75 and screw up the mpg.

Hey guys I know this has probably been answered in the 174 pages of this thread so sorry, but I have a 2016 TRD offroad DCLB coming next week. I will be putting a 2016 OME medium load kit on it. I have 255/80/17 Cooper STT MAXX's that I want to put on this bad boy, will the tires fit without a lift before I get the lift installed?

From what I have read some have run them on stock suspension. What that entailed I am not sure. Short answer I would say they would rub. If your willing to cut a bit and not turn too much you should be fine. A quick google search gave me some info but I'm on my phone and unable to post stuff up for ya at the moment.

So a question for your 255 85 16 owners. I got a new 2016 SR and I'm going go be getting a OME lift with rear dakars and I just bought 5 duratracs 265 75 16 LR C and the spare fits up underneath the truck just fine and I was wondering when I do upgrade to a 25t 85 16 will that fit up under the truck?!

Wth a bit of massaging a 255 fits fine under the truck. Doesn't hang as low either compared to a 285 as well so some guys use them as a spare.

255/85-16 requires no modifications. I did remove the mudflaps, so not sure if that counts as modifications.

I'm still on stock suspension and wheels.

Different offset wheels is what causes rub.

I have a 255/85/16 in the stock spare location. I beat the arms that hang down in with a hammer and it tucked up in there nicely with no other modifications.

i have a 255 in spare location, but since i have a relentless rear bumper it fits without any other modding at all. not sure about if you still have stock bumper with hitch

Thanks for the input, so when you say different offset what is stock offset? I will be getting aftermarket wheels I just want to know what offset to keep it close if not same as stock if possible? Is it 0?

So it should fit just fine with a 2 inch lift?

In terms of on the truck? Guys are running them on all stock with no problems. 2 inch you should be fine. If you meant under the truck in the stock spare location the 2inch lift won't really matter. It's going to be tight but it will fit based on what others are saying.

I meant 255/80/17 on the truck not the spare. Been getting very mixed reviews people saying that even with a 2 inch lift I will have to do some cutting and others saying that it will fit with stock just fine and others saying that it will fit on stock but you wont be able to off-road at all. Frustrating.

This site is great for a lot of things, contrary answers and opinions are pretty common though. There's a lot of variables which makes it difficult to just say "yes" or "no".

I'm running 255/85/16 Cooper ST Maxx, and I am not rubbing during daily driving. I think its possible that I'll have some rubbing on the rear of the wheel well if I were turning hard while fully stuffed, but not by a lot. To do this I'm running ~2.5" OME lift with new UCA's, I've removed front and back flaps in the front and replaced my wheels to get the necessary backspace as my tires originally rubbed my UCA's on the OEM rims.

I think I would have rubbed on my UCA even with a less aggressive tire in this size, however the off road nature of the tread pattern makes this a very wide tire for it's size. I think if I'd done a 2" lift and stayed with the stock UCA I may have been OK though, but I opted for the new UCAs to avoid other issues.

What all that means is that it's possible, but it depends in part on what you do. Best bet is to read through some of the builds that others have done using the gear you are going to install, and ask them directly what issues they encountered as that's likely what you'll bump into yourself.
