What did you use to paint your wheels? Looks good.

@crazy joker - I'm not even close to buff, so I'm gonna drill holes based on your estimations.

To confirm: you drilled holes 1 1/4" rearward and about 1/2" toward the passenger side?

    Thanks!

Picture 1 is plastidip- I pressure washed that off before I got my new tires and painted with Duplicolor wheel paint which is what is in the second two pictures. My plastidip lasted 2+ years but since I was going with new tires figured I'd make it more permanent and paint where the wheel weights were

I DO NOT recommend Duplicolor wheel paint. The sprayer is cheap, one can the plastic direction nozzle shot out. My coat is very rough/textured. I'd use rust oleum.

That's correct. It worked great for my Coper Discoverer S/T max. I'd still check your tire first, as different types of tire with the same printed size actually have different diameters. :goingcrazy:

Thanks for the input. I have to do something with my wheels soon. The finish is flaking off, dam New England winters. Did you paint the wheels before getting the new tires mounted? If so did it chip at all?

Does anybody know the diameter of the ST Maxx 255/85r16 while mounted on the rim and on the vehicle, like what is the actual diameter after install. Because Harley100 tires look a little on the small side but they still look good, maybe some one could hold up a tape measure and take a pic and post it.

Anybody running these on stock wheels or trd wheels on 3 gens(2016) without the cab mount chop? trying to research whether the 255s will rub with a 2-3 inch lift. don't want to chop a new $40000 truck.

I did paint before new tires- one wheel is chipped a tiny bit. I think they did it first and realized they were painted and were more careful with the rest. But it's still better than what it was before. I wanna sand with like 400 grit and repaint with rustoleum but at the moment I'm pretty content.

    *Edit:

To note though: When I had my wheels plastidipped I had 3 or 4 tire rotations and one tire flat / fixed and hardly had any scratching of my plasti dip. Got some compliments at the dealership. But after 2 years enough scratches made it worth painting. That and the wheel weights I just painted over before. When I plasti dipped originally the wheels were on the truck. I stuffed paper towels or newspaper between the spokes and just sprayed. Anything on the tires peeled off. After 2 tire rotations (and seeing another truck with silver lug nuts) I removed the plastidip off each lug nut and I'm keeping it that way.

Why not have the wheels powder coated instead of painted? A few years ago Les Schwab was doing blast and powder coat for $25 per wheel. Probably costs a little more now but at that price it was fairly competitive with the materials cost for a quality DIY paint job. Most of the country doesn't have Les Schwab tire shops but powder coaters are a dime a dozen everywhere so the job should still should be pretty inexpensive.

Does anyone have any input on tire pressure? I'm running the cooper ST Maxx. I messed around with some chalk and figured that 38 psi gave a me a good contact patch. This was confirmed by the tire shop who calculated this was about right based on load. However, I'm finding that they get a bit wandery on the highway and deflect on bumps. I checked my pressured after a long drive and they were up around 47 psi. This probably explains the harsh ride. Is it worth dropping them a little? What are others running for pressure with the coopers?

I have e rated scooper st maxes so I run them at 32 all aroundas it's a harder carcass. So far so good, comfortable on the road and decent wear thus far. Temperature will change tire pressure as well, so if you checked them after a long drive that could be the reason. Try lowering them a bit and see what happens.

My S/T MAXX are usually at 36 for on-road driving. Might try dropping a few PSI for comfort, but I don't know how much it'll matter.

I run my ST max tires at 30 psi, and they drive and wear good.
