I'm running 1st gen rims. No spacers. I have a bit of rub on the odd bump/turn. I am running a sway bar and the OME 886 (heavy coils). Offroad, going slow, I haven't heard any rub. If you really compress the suspension you will rub. Some odd plastic trimming but not severe cutting. Crom posted a few pages back about what he had to dO

been getting between 21-21.75 the last several tanks (that I wasn't loaded with something in the back or pulling a trailer) that is also adding 7.5% to the total miles to make up for size difference

That's outstanding! I also factor in 7% and do 300-320 a tank if I'm lucky for an average 18.4 mpg. What kind of driving do you normally do? Auto or manual?

im auto and I drive 20 miles at a time basically about 1/2 is 55 mph no stops and 1/4 is city and the other 1/4 is rural <40 mph back roads, but ait's have been over 100* every afternoon on my way home for the last month so that's helpin mpgs a good bit

Anyone here looked at a 34x10.5r17?

I'm really disappointed 255/85/r16 isn't available with the BFG KO2s. They do have a 34x10.5r17 though, which comes in about 1" taller than a 255/85... actually if it were in metric it would be 265/85/16.

On a related note, anyone find any new tires coming out in this size? It feels like the options are really limited

From my research I found mounted size is only 33. So essentially it's still just like running the 255's. Just slightly taller (my coopers measure just below 33's)

I'll see if I can find the thread on it

Thanks for the link. I think I'll go back to BFG for the next tires, and I'm still trying to figure out the size I want. I'm running Cooper ST Max now (255 80 R17), and I'm not impressed with them.

Really eh. I have been running those and I have been pretty happy with them. That's compared to the stock dunflops and the Goodyear kevlars (terrible on the roads in the winter). Curious to what issues your having with them. I have had some pretty bad chunking on one of them but other than that they have been all around pretty good.

I made the switch to ST Max from BFG ko (the old style) thinking they would give me better traction off road. I've run 5 sets of KO's over the years and know their capabilities and weaknesses. On my truck and trail conditions, the ST Max is only marginally better off road (if at all). Add to that they are a bit more noisy on the road and are wearing out nearly twice as fast. No thanks. I'll stick with a good set of AT's. For the next set, I want to try the new design KO2.

the thing that turned my off the max was they were only available in e rating but I was about as close to getting a set as I could have been before I found these bighorns for a couple hundred less for a set and also I think they are 6 lbs lighter a tire and mud tires.

That's awesome! I think I'll be finding 17" rims and going with those so I can get the tread pattern I want.

The only 3 tires in 255/85/16 I'd want would be the Toyos, KM2s and ST Maxx. I'd rather have BFG KO2s on a 17" rim if feasible, and it looks like it is!

I haven't had them long enough to give a thorough review, but I have really enjoyed them for the couple weeks since I put them on. The truck is a 2.7L 4x4 manual with factory 4.30 diffs and it felt over geared on stock tires. I was always wanting to hit the non-existent 6th gear on the highway. It now feels perfect on the hwy, cruising happily at 70-75mph. It feels ever so slightly under geared when starting from a dead stop, going up hill. It's nothing near bad enough to have me thinking of re-gearing though. 4Lo feels great. I measured one tank of gas out of curiosity. 19mpg (mixed driving) allowing for the added tire diameter's effect on the odometer. The KM2's aren't uncomfortable on-road at all, and balanced well using dynabeads.

Can't wait to get some real off road miles on them and give a proper review.
