I'm having the same issue with BFG MT's in 255/75/17. Maybe have 12k on them. I rotate regularly. Thought about going to the 255/80/17 or a 285. Anyone have any ideas? I drive 90% highway, 10% off road.

My KM2s are wearing nicely with roughly 12k as well. Rotate every 5k. Are they balanced well?

I'v had to re-balance, it seems, every 3k miles when i rotate. Through, discount tire, so its done right.

The cupping is so bad its causing vibrations into the cab

I know it can be super frustrating. Had a set of 265/75/16 toyo ATII that cupped like hell. They were so loud it was miserable. I have nothing else to offer other than it seems impossible to save them once they start cupping. If you can't deal with it you might find someone looking for a dedicated set for off-road willing to buy them.

Thought about going to more of an "all terrain" and get away from the mud terrain.

I would have thought that as well. Worked out the opposite for me. :notsure:

The KM2's have needed rebalanced for me at rotations too. The first time they rotated, they were actually just fine, except that stupid Tire Discounters double stacked weights and they rubbed on my calipers. I had them 'rebalanced' and now I get steering wheel vibes which means they aren't balanced. At least I'm getting some mileage out of my 'lifetime balancing'.

I'll probably try ST MAXX's next set. I love the size though

Anyone use those balancing beads in their tires? How did they work out for you? Still running weights on the rims or are they completely eliminated?

I was looking at the ST Maxx's as well. They seem to be highly reviewed.

I ran them for roughly 10k miles with 8oz of the off-road dyna beads in each tire. Worked great. Then I switched wheels and they would no longer balance on the new wheels so I pulled the beads and had them road force balanced.

I've been contemplating going with beads too. Not sure if when I'm aired down my tires move on the rim or the weights shift but they don't seem to stay balanced for very long. Not to mention mud and snow that stick to the wheels.

Talk me out of Toyo MTs.

I am running 265/75 ST Maxx right now but will be moving up to 255s, those toyos look good and they're 1" taller than the ST maxx, I know they're less practical however. My truck is my DD and I drive 500 miles a week.

    But those toyo sidewall lugs....

I might move up to 17s and that changes what's available, I have been very happy with my ST maxx.

Are the ST Maxxs squirrely at 65-75 mph? Ive heard mixed reviews and wanted some more opinions, i drive 40 highway miles a day and need a solid feeling tire! Thanks
