I have a 04 2.7 5 spd with 4.30 gears stock. Your newer 2.7 has a little more power so maybe this will relate a little bit. When I first went to bigger tires (295 can't remember the aspect ratio but basically a wide 33) I wasn't able to take a rolling turn in 3rd anymore, had to drop to second. Most hills on 81 (I see you're in PA) I could take in 4th there was the occasion where I'd have to drop to 3rd. I didn't think it was too bad. I didn't like how fast it would go offroad though. Trying to do technical things was more of a bull in a China shop approach.

I just mounted a set of 255/80r17 st Maxx on some ray 10s. No lift, fit great after a little plastic manipulation!

    Pics!

I'm fairly certain 255 85 16 St Maxx will be my next tire.

She has been rolling around in the mud, so I will clean her up and get some photos up tonight! @ otis24 I love this new set up. Didn't notice a huge loss in power, and they drive great.

    Muddy pics are fine.

Right now I'm on 255 85 16 Maxxis Bighorns that are getting pretty worn out. I think just about any tire will be vastly better than what I'm on now. I just gotta put another 4,000 miles on them when I go to Baja in November and then I'll get the new set after that. Or do I get the new set before I go? I can't decide.

That's what I'm thinking. I'm leaning that direction. I'm going to get some off road steelies with better back spacing and off set. I get a little rub at full steering lock. Also my stock TRD wheels are covered in rock rash.

Just ordered a set today to go with my new dark matte bronze F5’s! I’m stoking!! Can’t wait to get them. I’ve ran 33x10.5 for like 4 years now and love em. I like the look over a wider tire too

May be a slightly less aggressive tread pattern but the Coopers are actually heavier than say, a BFG KM2, so rolling mass/MPG would theoretically be worse.

that's one reason I went with the bighorns over the st maxx, I think they were 7 lbs lighter per tire being d rated instead of e

might have been 4 lbs lighter per tire... seems like porche says that 1 lb of unspring weight equates to 7 lbs of sprung weight... maybe that's where the 7 lbs came from... at any rate the bighorns a noticeable amount lighter

    Lots of sail boat fuel
I know in this thread it's been covered that airing down with faith in the bead is no issue.

But how is the overall form once dropped? The trails I run aren't anything crazy , but are 2nd gear low for miles at a time at 18-20psi. Lots of 3-5" stone fields.

When camping I run about 600lbs in the bed + kayaks, but that's not always the case.

To sum it up, how's the flex in the various e rated tires? My alt is just to pick up a set of designated C MT wheelset.

Curious about this as well. I went with the Coopers and want to know the safe range I can go without popping the bead.
