Craigslist. I figured it is a good deal, seeing as that's even less than 4 of some other brands, likely going to pick them up later.

Would be interested in reviews as well. From what I can tell, they wear good but are a bit stiff for light trucks. The entire logging industry up here uses these on f350s and the like all year round.

3" Toy Tech Boss suspension lift, 255/85/16 Cooper ST MAXX tires (stock alloy rims), ARB Deluxe front bumper, Warn M8000-S winch (with Warn Sidewinder), All Pro sliders, All Pro rear bumper (with hidden hitch and side panels), Window Tint, Roll N Lock Bed Cover, TRD Neoprene Seat Covers, Tinted Bug Shield, Tinted Vent Visors, ARB Essentials Recovery Kit, Pioneer head unit with GPS
I hate to be "that guy," bc I'm sure the answer has already been posted but here it goes....I read the first 50+ pages if this thread then realized how many pages it was. I need to order the tires ASAP to get them in w the lift which is getting installed on the 18-19 Jan!!!

Ordered the 3" Toy Tech Boss with full rear springs (not add a leaf), Light Racing UCA's, and rear bump stops for my now stock 2005 TRD Offroad ext cab 4x4. (Decided NOT to add the 1" body Lift as originally planned to get full 4 ")

I was originally looking for the biggest tire I can fit under it on the STOCK 16" TRD Offroad alloy rims without trimming and have no rubbing at full lock going back and forth between 285 and 255. Running 265/70/R16 on it all stock now.

I'm thinking 285 will rub for sure and 255 will be ok from what I'm reading and am pretty much sold on the 255.

If the 255 will be good what tire is anyone running? I wanted the BFG's but I'm being told they only make them in mud terrain in that size and not all terrain. This is my daily driver so I want to stick with an AT. Looking at going with the Cooper Discoverer ST Maxx.

Any "PROOF SOURCE" that can tell me if this set up will work without rubbing or needing to trim and info/recommendations on the tires?Screenshot_20180111-210622.jpg Screenshot_20180103-000620.jpg

Well I bought em. Just waiting on my coils to get here and I'll swap out my 265 75s for them. I can do initial thoughts and If someone reminds me I'll give a more thorough review later on about their wear.

There's no guarantee they won't rub. Only tire guranteed not to run is stock size on stock wheels. You'll probably have to do some trimming if you plan to cycle through the full range of suspension travel.

It is dependent on many factors, lift having nothing to do with whether or not they'll rub. Alignment geometry and wheel backspacing being the 2 Biggie's.

I just got a set of 255s Cooper ST Maxx and a OME kit (2885 w/ no spacers, nitro chargers all around, and standard dakar pack). I really like the tires. The tread pattern is awesome, they are burly but quiet, and they look angry. They don't rub at full lock in forward gear, but I was able to get them to rub a bit at full lock in reverse (one side only). Like everyone else, I wish I would have sprung for new UCAs, but they aren't necessary.

I'm not sure why people obsess about re-gearing for these tires. I could tell a slight difference, but it wasn't a big deal. It's not like these trucks are torquey to begin with. I also like how the truck brakes now (worse). I have the TRD OR, which I think has a larger brake cylinder. The brakes were always very grabby, like a wet drum brake on a gold cart or something. Now, they feel a bit more normal. If your brakes are squishy before installing these tires, you might need to address that.

I added crappy quick pics below. As you can see, the rear is a little high. I intended for the rear to be higher because I carry some constant weight, tow frequently, and can't stand when the back starts looking low. I was surprised about how little I got from the 2885s and how much I got from the dakars. Overall, I think it looks fine and will be perfect for my taste if the rear settles just a bit (it's only been a couple days). I'll check back in with any developments.

It’s a Titan Rod Vault. I just added black vinyl tape to the tubes to it looks less obtrusive.

My wheels would be comparable to running stock wheels with a 1.75" spacer. My wheels are 3.25" BS (stock is 4.5), and I run a .4" (10mm) wheel spacer on top of that. Looks like this: This setup comes CLOSE to fitting but alas, I am still chopping the cab mounts for clearance when wheeling and getting back full range of steering travel. Anything lower offset would fit without issue I would assume as mine just BARELY hits the cab mount, if I crank up my coilovers it does not rub anymore but I dont want to preload the shit out of my springs just to clear tiresIMG_20180107_170023.jpg

AWESOME. Overlanded 6k miles, for 6 months, thru 11 states. Best tire for those conditions. I got the toyo since it was the tallest, and I love them

Does anybody have experience with both the ST Maxx and BFG KM2 in 255 85r16? I've read the KM2 is actually about a half inch taller and actually a little bit lighter but lacks some durability in comparison. I'm really curious on the true diameter part if anybody can chime in.
    Thanks!

What UCA's are people running with 255/85r16 on stock OR rims without rubbing on the control arm? I have a 2015 TRD OR and getting ready to install ADS coilovers and Dakars. Trying to decide on UCA's. I was leaning towards JBA but read that 255s will rub UCA with stock rims. So its either get new rims or wheel spacers or find a new UCA. Has anyone had issues running 255s on stock rims rubbing UCA at full lock?

I have 1" spacers and stock UCA with 255/70R17 on stock TRD Sport Rims. Only reason I have the spacers is cause I rubbed with 265/70R17s with stock suspension at full lock.

From other threads I've seen I would imagine you would be ok with stock UCA and stock wheels with the 255s. Now with the ADS coilovers I'm not sure if you might have contact on the coilover with the UCA

They are extended length coilovers. Sorry forgot to mention that. So i will be needing aftermarket UCA's for sure

yeah so when it droops out you'll probably have some contact.

I had camburg's on my last Tacoma. I regretted getting the Uniball ones but other than that they took like 65,000 miles of abuse on the same set of bearings, powder coating actually survived 2 winters which I was surprised. had a few spots that I nicked with the coil over wrench that I had to touch up
