What's the sidewall like on the extreme countries?

Anyone cut one down? Can they take a beating? I love the weight, just wondering if they sacrifice strength.

If you decide to go with the DCEC post back here where you managed to find them in Canada....I'm having a hell of a time finding them and the local shops are probably getting annoyed with me calling all the time to check on availability.

Maybe this has been discussed somewhere in the last 229 pages but I am going to ask anyways. To my knowledge 16x8 wheels are not the best choice for this size of tire, be prepared to loose a bead if you drop your pressure wheeling. I started to look for wheels that I like that are actually 16x7 or 16x7.5 that are not stock and have enough offset to clear my JBA control arms. I found that Method has a wheel. It is the "standard" MR301 16x7. They have it labeled as a trailer rim on their website. 108mm center bore, 6 on 5.5, 0 offset and 4.5" backspacing. What do you think? Will it work or anyone running these? Thank you Tacomaworld.

Don’t know about the wheel you’re asking about, but...

Where are you getting your info that 16x8 isn’t a good choice for this size? An 8” wheel is within the approved width range for this size on all the tires I’ve seen. If you’re looking for some first hand experience, I wheel the piss out of mine on a 16x8 at 12psi regularly. Never lost a bead.

I was a little concerned when I first switched wheels. Started with 18psi. Wayyyy to high for my wheeling, so I dropped to 15 for the next few trips. That was still too much air. Been running them at 12 since last fall. Might be something to consider when making your choice.

    Pic because why not?:p

So all I can find is that the load rating is more and they are heavier then the 16x8's

Just ordered DC Extreme Country's from simpletire.com, 15% off all their tires, no tax, free shipping. Was $730 shipped. They take off another $5 if you ship to an installer.

Finally in the club....255/85r16 Dick Cepek Extreme Country on 16” TRD PRO wheels. Tire/wheel combo was 77.8lbs, wheel was 26.8lbs. Drives great and no rubbing so far. The power loss is not as bad as I expected so that’s a plus. Only have about 20kms on them but they are quieter than my 80k km Duratracs.
    0DBCBD16-4746-4CF5-A135-6726005A96D0.jpg

5 wheels/tires in the bed was an easy 390lb workout for my Dakar + aal packs. Still 2 inches off the super bumps.

Also, the DC extreme countries are very, very aggressive:
