Has anyone put 255/85R16 tires on a stock TRD OR yet? I've got an Icon stage 3 in my garage but need to buy tires TODAY before I head into the high country and a snow storm. The stock tires are already worn almost bald after 23K miles and are complete crap in the snow. I need to put these on now before the next storm but it's at least three days before anybody can get my lift installed

You won't be able to fit a 33" in that size on stock suspension!

I know it fits on the stock suspension with a first GEN. I thought it might fit on the third Gen.

Why did you think I was talking about a 1st Gen? They still will not fit on a 3rd gen! Biggest Tire you can go is a 265 75 16 on stock suspension on a 2016!

Just dont turn or hit a bump and youll be fine...

Actually Im kidding. Depending in brand thats a 33.3, even tho the 3rd gen is an inch higher stock, it wont make a damn on compression.

Id say buy the tires and have them test fit on the front and see how it looks. If its going to rub bad its probably not worth damaging a new tire or your truck.

    Edit: @0uTkAsT @JerryTaco

Any input here from the turd gen crew?

I didn't think you were talking about the first Jen, I was just making a comparison since I know they will fit a 1st gen without lift. The 265 is only an inch taller than stock, the 255 is only 2.5 inches taller but half an inch narrower and width has always been a bigger issue with the Tacoma than height.

sub'd. Interested to know if the 255/65/R16s fit on stock suspension as I've been considering this size for my '17 Pro. With its additional 1" of lift and 1" wider track I'm hopeful they'd fit without rubbing or trimming.

yes achieve via the rims. the offset/backspacing on the Pro's 16" rims push them out by 1/2" on each side, totaling 1" of additional track width. This will give you an additional 1/2" of tire clearance from hitting/rubbing the UCA.

Good to know. Has to be harder on the wheel bearings though. I imagine you can fit that size without issue.

The bigger question is are you able to find those tires in stock somewhere today.

Nobody carries them in store out my way.

image.jpg image.jpg They keep them stocked around here because of all the snow. One day wait. I said to hell with it and threw the kit on myself today.
