Currently running LT265/70/17 general grabber at2's. Great tire and set up. I have the stock sport suspension. I was playing with idea of getting a bigger tire but was unsure if it would require a if it and if so how much.

Was thinking a LT255/75/17. Or something along those lines.

Also wanted to know if there is a major difference for DD highway driving going from 265 to a 255 size tire. I do not offroad. Truck is a commuter. I still want the aggressive look and the benefits of LT vs P tires when I am working with the truck.

Any benefits or cons with that change?

    Thanks all!!

Actually, a narrow tire will have less wind resistance, rolling resistance, and weight; thus increasing gas mileage. And as we know with the Tacoma, you'll get a little better clearance with a slightly thinner tire, and it will fill the wheel well a bit more...

I'm on 12 year old stock SR5 suspension running 255/80r17 which is a hair over 33". All I've done is undo a couple bolts and ziptie the front out of the way, and there's no rubbing at all.

I'd listen to this guy right here....he knows all about rubbing.

In all seriousness listen to @EatSleepTacos , we have several guys in the Northeast running the same tires. I plan on going to that as well.

I ran 255/75r17 BFG MTs on my truck when it was stock. No rubbing, looked great. That's the size I'd run again if I went back to 17s.

You won't get the weight advantage if you go with LT tires. Since you don't off-road have you considered a 255 p-series tire ?

i occasionally entertain switching to cutters on 17's 255/75 or 255/80 should work fine for your situation as the other said.

And me!! I always heard they were great, but after this last trip, I drank the kool aid. This tires are surprisingly quiet and I don't think I lost traction a single time.

So the 255 and 265 LT tires can't carry the same weight? mostly commuting and homeowner shit

He means that it's a heavy ass tire, so you're going to take a hit on MPG.
