It is the auto trans that makes me leery. That and can't find a brand new 5.0 at the $25K mark...tax, registration, and other bullshit paper work on top of that puts me around $27K OTD.

Here the 5.0's are going for around $30K...fees put it at $32.5K there abouts. $5000 more than I want to spend. Don't even want to spend $27K to tell you the truth. Too much for a dumb truck for running back & forth to work, and yanking a couple dirt bikes around. Rather just spend it on keep on fixing my old POS, but the better half wants me in a new truck. You would think I would be happy about it. ;)

I pulled with my current Tacoma which has a topper, it does fine...not a rocket, but it pulls it. Most of the roads I travel on the speed limit is 65. With the open 5X8 trailer, can't even tell it's back there.

For what's it's worth I contemplated my sr to a ram 1500 extended cab 2wd hemi with the 8-speed, Santa Rosa dealer had every color in stock and they were only 26.5. I choose the sr cause I know it will last forever with normal maintenance, and it is a good handling nimble truck.

Oddly my new work truck is a 17' 4x4 hemi. While it is awesome, it fells heavy and is no where near a as nimble as the Tacoma. But with 400hp it screams. Yet, I love driving my Tacoma at the end of the day.

I don't tow very heavy with it, but the sr has towed 1,500lbs in the bed no problem, also a small dump trailer, and I was surprised at how well it did.

I got mine for 24.4 and it has the convenience package and some other stuff. I do have a 05 Cummins for towing my jeep, but it hardly gets driving now that I have the Tacoma.

There is a Ram dealer just down the road from us, believe he has some of the best prices in the nation. The Ram is probably the best deal out there right now, don't think they are long term vehicles though. Buddy had one, his tranny went out at 70K.

Thanks for the info. Yeah, I am not towing anything super heavy, should be ok.

If going F150 I would only get the 5.0 engine. First time your stuck up against a failing turbo your wife wont let off you for going cheep. Its not a question if the turbo will fail its just when. With the automatic and Turbo is not a 15 year truck.

As much as a love the inline 4 if your towing go F-150. The taco can tow it but you said it's a flat nose which will really create drag and be miserable to drive.
