Just installed a set of Cooper Maxx 255/85 16. Had our first good snow recently. Tires performed well. The impressive part to me was in the mud while deer hunting this fall. There was a lot of rain on the farm that I hunt. Part of the road (if you can still call it that) was 60' long, 27' feet wide, with 8" of soft mud. The tires went through them easily.

I ran cooper discoverer M&S studded though the winters. The tires were JUNK after about 6000 miles. All had very uneven tread wear and broken belts. I rotated every 2000 mile roughly after the winter season and my summers would go back on. Hardly any treadwear. Cooper would not warranty them. Sent them back to the tire dealer, tire dealer sent them back to cooper, cooper kept the tires and refused to warranty. I believe the reason they gave was because hey were studded. Unbelievable. I will never buy another cooper tire.

Also the studless hankook tires on my wife’s focus performed much better than these even with studs. I have KO2’s right now and they will get me through the winter. Second winter for the KO2’s and they are 95% as good in winter conditions as the coopers. Next winter i’ll Be putting blizzak DM-V2 on the winter wheels.

Mine seem to be holding up ok.. Time will tell.. When were yours made? Is that picture when they were new?

One of my top picks was the DM-V2.. Until my research into the tire led me otherwise.. When worn down they lose their effectiveness quickly.. The Bridgestone website doesn't even really give you details on how the tires work..

The multi-cell rubber soaks up the water between you and the ice to give maximum traction.. When the tire reaches 60%... The good of that special rubber is gone...

I had WS965's on my Sierra and they were awsome on ice.. The thing is though, you only get 2 good years out of them before the rubber ages and the first 1/8 of maximum performance tread is gone...

That photo was when they were brand new. I hope you have a better experience! I researched for months before choosing the coopers. I also noticed my truck felt much much more responsive when on the Duratrac or KO2 vs the cooper M+S. Which is understandable but way more noticeable than winter tires on any other vehicle i’ve had them on. Lost about 3 mpg.
