Everybody, I found a set of used Nokian Vatiivas on craigslist for $240 with "90%" tread. Is this a good deal? I've read some good things on here but I don't know a single person that's even heard of Nokian... even at the tire dealers. I'm wanting to get out of my stock Dueller 684s and into an all-terrain even though I don't go off road. I just like the more aggressive tread and it'd be helpful in the few snows we get here in Ohio. Any input would be helpful.

A friend of mine had them on his Toyota pickup, and they sucked... My bfg A/T's were much better in all conditions.

Let me pose another question... which are better? Nokian Vatiiva A/Ts or stock Dueller 684s?

Nokians make wicked tires. The Vatiiva is very well known. Nokian is renowned for making some of the best winter tires there are.

And Norway is known for producing some of the very best rally drivers in the world.

    Draw your own conclusions.

Thanks for the input. I'd still like more feedback though so if anybody's got it let me hear it.

I put Nokian Vatiiva A/T's on my 4Runner which I have since sold. I would have swapped them over to the Tacoma but they were 16's and I had 17's on the Tacoma. I loved the tires. Paid about $750 installed so sounds like a good deal to me. We have pretty harsh winter conditions around here and I was very pleased with the way the tires performed in the snow/ice.

Maybe check out some of the tire sites and read the reviews there. Thats why I went with the Nokians in the first place. I haven't heard of many on this site that run these tires. They are popular in NoDak however.

Well I appreciate all your feedback. I'm thinking about getting them. They looked in good shape except one had some curbage but it was on the white letter side and I don't mind that. My two biggest concerns are 1) I can't find a whole lot of reviews on them ecxept for their snow tires, and 2) if I blow one or something I don't know of one tire store that sells them. Oh well, I'll have to keep digging.

Ok, so I've talked him down to $180 for the set. Although one tire has some slight damage, it looks like a light gouge that circles the entire inside of the tire, like he rode a curb to hard or something. I've seen some pretty good reviews on this tire and I'm seriously thinking about getting them. I can't imagine them being worse than my Dueller 684s.

    around the world
    i run the 16s vatiiva
they are made in usa unlike the hakkapelita lines that are finland, can't tell any quality issues between the two though.
they have really low rolling resistance will help with your mpg i haven't calculated since mpg is not my concern.
    treat pattern looks great
they are asymetric design no rotation arrow...
in dry they stick very good
wet is great too, hydroplaning resistance is very good, tread pattern here helps a lot...
    hwy very stable, low noise
rating is somewhere about 540 wear so they should last a long time...
have not used them in ice/snow since i have nokian hakkapelitta dedicated set for that
what i don't like about them is sidewall is pretty soft, spirited driving like super sharp cornering maneuvers are not it's stong suits.
would i buy them again? absolutely
local tirefactory stores used to carry Nokian not sure if they still do, online though tiresbyweb.com have them shipped to your door.

not sure why people are showing M/T and snow tires reviews when clearly those are totally different than the Vatiiva A/Ts.

    anyway gl
