That makes more sense. In your previous post you said 265/70, so I thought you were talking about a smaller diameter tire. Since you clarified that it is 265/75, that should be about the same.

I assume that by "lugs" you mean the outer tread blocks and stuff that comes down the sidewall. Mine is not entirely aggressive.

The upper control arm is being rubbed on the driver side and the lower control arm is being rubbed on the passenger side. This indicates to me that the tires are leaning in some manner or the body isn't centered between them...if that makes any sense.

I have not seen any rubbing on the passenger UCA, and I don't recall seeing any on the driver side LCA. I'll go out and check on my lunch break.

Ok, so it looks like there is a very slight rub on the passenger side UCA, but I didn't see any evidence of rub on the driver side LCA.

I guess I'll have to look at the spacer option :(.

...Unless someone else has a suggestion?

I still don't get why that would be the case with such a small lift. The tires are no wider than stock and only an inch taller. That's aggravating.

If you get spacers, go with the Bora 3/4" spacers...you don't have to worry if the factory stud sticks out a bit after install, the 17" factory sport alloys I have have a recess that takes care of that worry...I have a first gen with this size tire, only rubbed at full lock before spacers, more so on driver side than passenger side, I didn't give it a second thought, and no problem with the 3/4" spacers at all....stock suspension with bilsteins...

    Thanks for the insight!

Do you rub on the mudflaps or anywhere else?

no rubbing with the 3/4" spacers, just a minor rub at full lock without spacers.....

For what it's worth, I had the same issue with the stock wheels. Went to FJ wheels and no more rubbing due to the different backspacing. Check out craigslist you may be able to find a set of FJ wheels cheaper than a set of spacers.

I am running into a similar problem, I had Cooper ST Maxx 265/70/17 on the stock sport wheels and have 5100's set at the third setting which I think is about 1.25" -1.75" of lift and I rub when going into sharp turns, it causes the LSD light to go on but should that happen when the front driver side tire is rubbing? The tire shop had about 42 PSI in them and I brought them down to 35PSI. any thoughts on the rubbing?

Not rubbing my VCS is going off, held button for 3 seconds took it for a ride and no issues. Now just need to find out why that is going on.

Before I went the spacer route ... I had the same rub issue with 265/70-17

I went with the 1.25" wheel spacers

Took spacers off when the FJ wheels were installed

you either need to buy wheels spacers, buy wheels that move tire away from suspension , or buy 255/75-17 sized tires

I don't know , I ran 265/70/17 Hankook MT's at stock height and lifted on my stock Sport Alloys with no rub in either case

How fast are you hitting the turns? I can't help with the VSC. I think some people take their trucks to the dealership to have it recalibrated after lift. Luckily, I haven't had this issue.

So are you rubbing or not?

I've actually thought about going the skinny route. But then I'd feel like I needed spacers to push them out further. I need to go through your pictures to see if you have any with the 1.25" on there. Right now I'm leaning toward the .75" ones. Did the 1.25 spacers not push the tire out far enough that it rubbed in other places when turning?

    Hence my conundrum.

On a different note, I've always liked your truck. I almost considered going the 275/70 route because I knew you had run the Hankooks in that size without rubbing. I figured I'd play it safe with the 265/70s though since they are more readily available.

CowboyTaco, no rubbing what I thought was rubbing was actually the VSC turning the ABS on. So 265/70/17 have no rubbing issues on my truck. The dealership recalibrated and so far have not had the issue of the VSC going off when it was not supposed to.
