Hello @Threerun, I was guided here by @smitty99. How does this set up work with loading the bed? I was near payload capacity last weekend while wheeling after rock hounding and I was tapping the factory bump stops while flexing over some washes going across the trail, going slow. How does this AAL and 5160 in the rear handle weight?

Thank you and very interested in your lift

I did get more than that with the Dakars. See post above for measurements. I just realized I didn't take any measurements after everything settled, so it looks like I ended up with about 2 inches of rake with the Dakars.

I had a fully loaded bed yesterday. Camping with scouts this weekend. Rear dropped 3/4" and was fine driving around- no problem.

I hitched up our troop trailer which is an old single axle with a weight over 3,500 lbs. That did drop her down a bit. Towed this up and down grade 30 miles.

If I did this regularly with the trailer i'd put the overloads back in

Three run, who's soft topper is that? Looks good. Why soft topper vs. hard topper?

    Bestop.

    1. Price-$2,000 vs $550
    2. Versatility- can fold back in minutes to use truck bed.
    3. Portability- 60lbs- I can remove and store top by myself in my shop.

I owned a Leer fg top for my 8' dodge bed. It become too much of a hassle for me.

Okay- Fully loaded bed- not hitched to 3500lb trailer with shitty tongue balance..

    Empty Bed-

Hitched up to trailer with est. tongue weight around 400-500lbs.

    5BE192C6-FC58-4237-94F5-B1BF2AB932D6_zps_b6e07079c6081d26acb46d558cb33f008bfb0f7d.jpg

Quite frankly driving with just a load in the bed is fine. It holds the load very well, I think it would do well offroad. It's a comfortable drive.

Add a crappy old overloaded single axle trailer carrying 3,500lbs with a tremendous amount on the tongue? Not a very happy truck. I towed this 40 miles round trip to a local camp spot for an outdoor training skills weekend- up and down grade, curvy mountain roads- not fun. The truck can pull it- that I have no doubt, the weight is really distributed poorly- so lot's of rear bounce with that weight shifting on one axle from tongue to rear and back again. That trailer needs to go on a diet, or better yet we need a lighter trailer, tandem axles and ditch one of the two canvas outfitter tents stored in there...

Sheesh that thing is a beast for such a small trailer..

That's good to know. I may have to switch to Dakars if I get called upon to haul that little beast trailer often. I'll definitely have to add the overload back in if not. I have to check to make sure the rear 5160's can handle it. I can always kick up the 6112's a notch to proportionally match any increased lift in the rear.

I just don't want to wind up sacrificing my ride quality 90% of time in order to handle the 10% of the time I need the beefier spring. Time will tell.

From 265/65/17 to 275/70/17 yeah I felt more lag and gear hunting especially going up inclines. I have a TRD Sport.
