Stock as can be. 2nd owner, mild rust from Illinois owner. Frame is solid and plan on just getting a toolbox for the bed, black steel wheels and some 31x10.5R15
I searched and didn't come up with much. Simple question.
Do the 265/75r16 rub on a stock DC? I don't do heavy articulating or trail riding where I tuck wheel alot. If I get some 1" spacers, how will the larger size fair?

I put 31x10.50R16 Falkens on my stock '96 4x4 and the front right rubs at the ends of the turning limits. that tire is 1/2" shorter and 0.1" wider than the 265/75R16, so I expect you may also have occasional rubbing when you turn to full lock.

I just went up to 75 from 70 on my ‘04 Xtra cab prerunner, try this.

Or this. What wheels you running? Offset is important, my new wheels have a +13mm offset, the original stock alloy Toyota wheels(6 lug) had +15 so that gave me a bit of room for suspension and frame clearance, play around with the calculator and you’ll figure it out. With my stock suspension only had minor rub on back side of wheel well liner, was gonna make some minor cut outs on the liner but found a square hole in the wheel well next to the liner in the perfect spot. Poked a strategic hole in the liner and got a zip tie in there and it pulled the liner back more than and inch, no more rubbing. Good luck

I am running stock OE wheels on my truck. Any idea what the offset is, and if they will rub or not?
I've heard with these stock wheels, that they don't rub?

Those are the same as I had, +15 mm offset, with 265/75/16 they may rub a bit at full lock but you can cut the wheel well liner or try zip tie it.

Your tire shop can do a test fit also to check if you clear the suspension and frame.

265/75/16's are 1" taller, same width at the sidewall. 265/75's fit a 2nd gen 99% of the time. Not sure about a 2004.

One thing you need to be aware of. The 265 number is the width of the sidewall measured in millimeters. All tires from any manufacturer will be the same width at the sidewall if they are 265's. But there is no industry standard for tread width. The part of the tire in contact with the ground.

You just have to look up the measurement from the manufacturer's website. Some places like Discount Tire will show that measurement on their website. You could have 2 different tires in 265/75/16 and one of them could have a tread width that is an inch or so wider than the other.

This is something I did not even consider. I know the tread path/width surely differentiates from tire to tire. Hell, I used to have this issue with 31x10.5 on my old Jeep. Even if the shoulder lugs were a big knobby-er, they would hit when an AT the same size didnt.

I'm curious if they can. I'll have to check. Hey when you get a chance, would you be willing to send or post a video of where you exactly used that zip tie? Did you have any issues on the front side of the wheel well, or maybe hitting the frame rail?

Hey so you are gonna have to take the mudguard off to access the hole the zip tie goes through, it’s under(below) where the inside screw holds the mudguard on. Turn your wheels and stick your head in there to see it. That’s how I found it and also checked frame and suspension for clearance. Gotta get under there and have a look but don’t forget about compression if off-roading. No rubbing on front side wheel well or frame with with mine.
