Look it up on this site... the stock springs are rated to something over 700lbs... but the 5100s aren't designed to handle that, I think it was like 600 on the highside. If I understood what I was reading if you go with a different spring the shock should be fine... just all started getting more complicated and expensive when all I want is to raise the front end a tad.

Again if I was going for a 2 or 3" lift I wouldn't consider it, or if I was into offroading. Under an inch increase, I can't imagine the spacers being a problem.

So different coils like OME 885 and 887 give you different lift heights right when you put them on 5100s set at 0? And if you put them on 5100s then you can also raise more with the 5100s (say on .85)? so you can lift with just coils, just shocks, or both?

I don't think so... I believe the height is determined by the 5100s, its really more of a matter of compressing the spring, the more lift you put in the shock the more compression on the spring which is where the heavier stock springs could be an issue. Again, this is all from what I've read and my understanding is minimal. There are other lift options by Icon, Toytech and others but they start jumping in $$.

Just do a search on the site (be sure to do an advanced search on just the 3rd Gen stuff) and you'll find the discussion pretty easily. Some say no biggie while others warn of impending doom. Then decide for yourself... If the 5100's for the 2016 were available I'd go for those but they are not out yet.

Ah, i see. If I get 5100s I would be getting new coils as well so I think it would be fine. From what I have seen it looks like as long as you swap out the stock coils the spring rate issue goes away.

That's what I understand as well... but at the same time Bilstein is not saying the current shock is a fit for a 2016, I wasn't comfortable with that... and then comparing cost of that setup vs the spacers when all I want is to lift the front less than an inch it was a no-brainer for me...

I will be getting a OR DCLB soon with a 2-3 inch lift (either BOSS/OME/5100). I like the idea of a off-road tire in the C rating as well. I would love to stay with the ko2 tire but am unsure if the 265/70/17 C rated tire would look weird/be big enough for the lift. Would the 275/70/17 E rated tire be a far better option? Will my suspension upgrade help prevent the complaint by some of the "dump truck" ride in a 275 E rated tire? Would love to fit the bigger tire on my truck but not at the expense of bad ride. HELP ME!
