I had rub for sure with the TRD Pro wheels and 265/70/17 and weathertech flaps. Tried trimming and heating the flaps and in the end, they were a waste of money.

I think you do need flaps as the paint takes a beating without them. The solution: Rokblokz regular sized flaps. Work and look great, flexible and no rubbing.

For those with factory flaps and rubbing - heat guns like for tint or trim removal work great with heating plastic and bending it out of the way . Use end of stick or something similar , heat till plastic is able to be moved then hold with object and let cool until plastic sets. May take a few times to get in correct position but works wonders Instead of cutting - used allot in lowered cars with wider than stock wheels.
Another trick to see where it is rubbing, rub with sidewalk chalk , or shoot talc powder or mudd water on suspected rubbing area to see where you need to start bending at. Hope this helps

I have the same setup with some minor rubbing on the passenger side. Only occurs when turning onto a raised surface

Hi everyone I am new to this forum. I just installed my set up, my truck came with the OEM mudguards and it rubs on the passenger side, when turning and the suspension is compressed.(too often to be ignored) Not a big thing, but I'm worried that when offroading, if the timing is right on a big bump while turning that everything will turn bad. Plus that kind of a noise on a brand new truck..... I don't know what to do, I really don't like the looks of the Rokblokz mudflaps. I guess I will try to ajust my caster to 2.8 like someone mentioned on the forum, it seems to be the most interesting solution to me...I will keep you guys posted, if that does not work, I will try to trim a part of the mudguard.

I did the heat gun trick and it took 95% of the issue away. Only the passenger side was rubbing the factory mudflap

I got my 265/70R17 C on the TRD PRO rims at stock height. I took off the small flaps in front on the front tires before I had the tires installed, so I can’t say if they rub on them, but the front tires do rub slightly on the inside “bulge” of the full mud flaps at full lock. I may take them of and do some alterations.

I removed the full size front mud flaps and now have no rubbing.

I also prefer the look of no flaps. I’ve had full-size fords prior to my Tacoma and they never had flaps, I understand the paintwork takes more of a beating, but time will tell. Never had an issue with my fords, plus I’m not pulling half the sh1t I did in my first full-size...blame that on maturity or lack there of!
