don't worry about what that grumpy old man says, sometimes he forgets to take his Geritol supplement lol..if there's a valid question go ahead and ask. Shouldn't matter either way, and besides...someone will always chime in with their experiences that will help answer your question(s). That's what makes this place so great:p

    Have a great day!

I was running my 245's on a 8" rim if that counts. Kinda like a suedo-265 XD

But yes, I understand that me, posting here, is not 100% politically correct. I was just baffled at how a 2009 prerunner and a 2009 4x4 could be so different in the wheel wells.

So the two trucks in question have the exact same rims on them?

Also the 245/70s you mentioned earlier would be smaller than stock. Stock 245s are 245/75s.

Two separate variables - wheel diameter, and wheel offset.

You can increase the diameter on the stock wheels.

You can increase the negative offset (aka increased backspacing, assuming wheel width remains the same) by running aftermarket rims with the stock 265/70R16 tires.

But if you go to bigger diameter (265/75R16), AND aftermarket wheels with more negative offset, you're probably going to rub. BabyTruck found that out also.

the xrunner sits lower then a 4x4 model, making the wheels sit closer the wheel wells...that should be taking into consideration when trying to compare the two different models

Wait one if the trucks in question is an xrunner? Completely different suspension, 5 lug vs 6 lug. Two completely different trucks as far wheels and tires are concerned.

PRERunner, not XRunner. I'm a non-functional 4x4 basically. Same height, suspention, 6-lug, etc. PreRunner....

The truck in question is detailed both in my sig (her's) and all over my profile.

Interesting. I need to borrow a GPS to check that out.

OP - thanks for the post. Will have to keep that in mind next time around when tires are due.

Nope, I'm comparing a PRERUNNER to a 4x4. Which is why it's baffling. It's basically the same teuck, minus the functional 4x4.

Mrs Pib, your problem as BJ posted above is the combination of your chosen tire size (265/75r16) and your aftermarket wider wheels with unknown backspacing. If you had stock wheels your 265/75r16s would clear fine. If you had aftermarket wheels with the same specs as stock wheels your 265/75r16s would again clear fine. As you have wheels that are both wider then stock and probably have different backspacing then stock, you have changed where the wheel and tire sit in relation to the rest of the truck, creating your clearance issue. Adding a larger then stock tire has made this issue apparent.

And the exact same wheels for both models? I asked that earlier but didn't see an answer.

And I'm on my phone so I can't see all your sig and profile stuff.

The way the tire size works. we will use a 265/70R16 for example
265 is the width of the tread in millimeters
70 is the percentage of tread width used for sidewall height
    16 is rim size
convert millimeters to inches by dividing by 25.4
    265 x .70 = 185.5 side wall in mm
    185.5 x 2 (2 sidewalls) = 371mm
    371/25.4=14.6063 inches

    14.6063+16(rim)=30.6063 inches tall
    265/25.4=10.4166 inches wide
