I’m going through this right now, but also considering the Wildpeaks. I really love the 255s but I keep hearing bad things about Coopers tread life and pulling to the side. I can deal with noise but I do have to commute every day and I’m not sure if I want to deal with a tire that pulls or wears too fast.

Anyone with Coopers have strong opinions on the life or pull?

I have noticed some fast wear but I also do a lot of driving as my taco is my daily as well. I’d be interested to see what BFG tread life is like in comparison.

I've run both tire sizes and do a fair bit of trail riding. I've previously run 265/75/16s ATs (on my 2010 and for a while on my 2020) and wanted to move to 33" skinnies. The KO2s are a typical AT tire, and IMHO the ST Maxx tires compare more to the KM3s, which are a full MT tire. Why I chose the ST Maxx was because compared to the KM3 they are way more quiet. They are probably the most aggressive tire with good highway manners I've found.

Love my 265/75/16 Duratrac's. Only wish they came in a 255/85/16 size.

    That truck is looking good:hattip:
Looks like a lift of some sort is on that bad boy?
I have a pro and don’t really want to fuck with the pro tuned fox suspension. So not looking to do a lift for now.(unless someone knows good options for the pros?) I’ll need tires that can fit while it is stock. I think I’m leaning towards the coopers. I love the tall look they give the taco. Maybe not the stance so much but I don’t think the 265/75’s make that much of a difference in that regardo_O
    Any pulling issues?

The KO2s are a great AT tire, good weight, good mpg, I'm at 55k miles and still have tread life in them.
I've been in some nasty mud and made it through no problem. On my second set of them.
I like the ST maxx, never had them but they are on my list to check out.
they are the same price or more here, the fact they weigh a lot more is the only downside.

Thank you. I do have an OEM suspension which give me a couple inches bump but mostly handles the weight and bumps better. With a TRD Pro, I'd suggest keeping that suspension, I'd bet (someone confirm) that the 33" skinnies would fit without issue. No pulling or drifting issues at all. (Full disclosure, my truck is re-geared to 4.88s)

Mine is also my daily driver. Do you think the tread wear is too inconvenient for a daily? The Coopers are pricey and I don't want to have to replace every other year. I drive about 17k miles per year, almost all highway commute miles.

I’ve run KO’s on full-sized trucks in the past and have few complaints. I’ve considered putting 265-75-16 KO2’s on my Tacoma, but I’m a bit concerned with the added weight and ride quality of an E-Load tire on a mid-sized truck. Am I worrying about nothing?

What’s the price difference between 265/75R16 Coopers vs KO2?

I went 265/75R16 ST Maxx with no regrets. Seems well mannered on the highway. Online reviews say the tread should last a long time. Rotate them often and it should help that. According to Cooper they’re one of the only 265/75R16 tires I’ve seen that are a true 32” tall tire.

I think you’ll be happy with either. So if more money in your pocket makes you happy, I’d go there.

Do you have a link to the details about it being a true 32" tire? That might be a big part of my decision.

    http://us.coopertire.com/tires/discoverer-s-t-maxx

If you go to full specs and browse for the size it lists the diameter as 32.01”.

That’s what pushed me over the edge. Kept my mud flaps and I was concerned about finding a competent alignment shop around me to do the pizza cutters. I just mounted the tires and carried on my way, no alignment (for better or worse). Pretty sure an alignment is not required unless you get too large a tire or change suspension geometry. I’m sure someone will correct me if I’m wrong though...

I am re-gearing to 5.29 here pretty soon. thinking about going with the skinny ST Maxx, just a little worried about the handling on the freeway. From what I have read though they should fit fine on my Pro. 59 lbs is also a lot of weight (ST Maxx), but I am putting on wheels that will only weight 16 lbs so losing 10 lbs there. Other tire I am considering is the 265/75/16 Cooper ST 3. Those come in at only 43 lbs or so. Kind of in the same boat as the OP was...

Thanks! And yeah, as far as I know an alignment isn’t worth doing unless you change your suspension in some way.

When you change tire size, you are still changing the point of contact for the tires in the suspension travel and you should do the alignment. Last time I got bigger tires from stock, the alignment was def way off.

don’t destroy $800-1000 worth of brand new tires to save $80 on an alignment.

To be honest I had vibration issues with my 255 ST Maxx after about 30k miles. I now have 285 KO2 and they are perfectly smooth (after some initial balancing troubles) at 60k. Obviously it's just my 1-off experience but I'll probably continue to get KO2's in the future (well, I am since I have 295's waiting in my garage).

no sweat. If you like to bounce your truck around off pavement, look in to lifetime alignments, usually it costs about $150, and you can take it in for an alignment whenever you want. Go off-road, get an alignment, why not? New tires, alignment, upgrade suspension, alignment. It’s a great deal and you’re more likely to just do it if you get them for free.

Should be able to fit 285/75/r16 on your pro without rubbing.
