but not everyone. Just glanced through a few pages and found multiple people cleared and multiple people didn’t clear.

Pro’s have 1” extra lift. That’s all. People here with 2-3” of lift still have trouble clearing 285s. The pro wheel might have something to do with it, but it’s not guaranteed, also the tires themselves have something to do with it.

265-75/16 is the largest tire size you can fit without rubbing on every model and every individual truck.

285s... maybe. You might get lucky as each truck has slight variances. But you should not be telling people they will clear a tire size that they have a maybe 50% chance of clearing. And 50% is a generous number.

I would love to get this tire size but I do a good amount of wheeling and am concerned about all the rubbing I’ve heard from this size. It seems to me that if you don’t go off-road to much that this size will work but otherwise maybe not.o_Oi still haven’t made a decision but I’m going to by early next week so I can make an appointment. At this point I’m definitely leaning towards the taller Coopers. If someone can really convince me (w/pics showing how close to rub and that the spare fits underneath) the 285’s work with no problems and they go off-road quite a bit (more than 2 or 3 times a year) than I might have to throw that size into my decision.:D

Final count as of today is 50-26. Coopers win by a surprising landslide:confused: This is the tire I’m going to order today!
    Thanks for voting!
    Happy wheeling

Up here there are some Coopers Discoverer AT 3 XLT on sale in the 285/75/16. Good price but my worry is the 285 is manufacturer rated as requiring 7.5 rim. From what I’ve seen, the new TRD Pro wheels are only 7.0

I know it can be done but would there be liabilities??? Or am I wrong on the wheel size?

Ok the ST MAXX 255/85/r16 tires get installed on Friday, finally! Guys at 4 wheel shop were a lil backed up from this COVID thing. I took the mud flaps off so there’s no issues. I sorta like the look without them:thumbsup: I might put the rear ones back on to provide some function. I’ll post pics for sure:cool:

Sorta forgot about this thread! Posted this in another spot but it all applies here:thumbsup: Finally got the the tall and skinnies! I don’t think they are that skinny though. 255/85/16 Cooper St Maxx:cool: I think they look super sexy:thumbsup: I measured the actual tread width on both my stock 265/70/16 and the new tire while aired up and the stocks were 8 & 1/8” and the coopers are actually an 1/8th” bigger :cool:despite the coopers that have an overall width that is a lil bit narrower. I think the actual cooper width is 10.1” compared to 10.5” stock (not tread width)
Anyways i think they ride pretty nice!:thumbsup:The bumps, sewer caps and cracks in the road are definitely less noticeable butthe overall noise is a tad bit more, but hardly noticeable to me. No rub so farand have done a couple little 4wdtrails near the house and even got stuck trying to plow through some snow (only temporarily though) From everything I can tell I have plenty of room. Time will tell I suppose:cool:
Oh and my exactly 15 mile trip to work now says it’s a 14.6 mile ride:p so Ifigure that makes my speedometer 2-3 mph off
    [IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG]

I might put my rear mudflaps back on and save some windshields behind me:rofl:

    Aren't those 17" rims?

I wanted the km3 but they are slightly taller and I was worried about fitting the spare.
I went for the coopers a few months ago, love the way they look and the extra height. I have to say they are nowhere near as good as the stock size tire on the highway, they feel noticeably unstable on twisty roads. That little bit of width made a huge difference.
Mine have a slight pull to the right from the drive home, not sure if it's a quality control issue or what's up with that.

I bought 5 mounted & balanced otd for $1300, depending how they wear and continue to drive I might not get this size again.

As you said the speedo/odo is off and so will your MPG calculations (computer or on paper).
I’ve had the ko2 on all of my previous trucks and never had poor snow traction back in ny.

Any long term updates from anyone for the 255 Cooper's? Hearing a lot about poor treadlife...

There’s a mega thread somewhere for the ST Maxx’s where you can read alot about that. I was reading through it yesterday but now I can’t find it lol
