Brand new 2022 SR5 DCSB 4x4. Getting ready to move away from the stock tires.

What kind of mileage drop are you guys seeing when you put an E rated 265/75/16 tire such as the BFG K02's on?

I am assuming OP means fuel mileage. I just put those exact tires on my ORDC and so far I am seeing what i consider a minor impact. I was getting a close to 19 mpg with the stock Goodyear kevlars and am now getting right at 18 mpg with the KO2's. I'll take that hit any day for having a much improved AT tire on my truck.

PS: I calculate my mileage manually so I trust the numbers I am seeing.

Nice. That's basically what I'm after.
Any rub issues without the lift?

That size makes for accurate speedometer and odometer readings. IMO driving habits are more important. My '09 access cab, 4 banger, 4wd, stick shift, got 25.1 mpg consistently. My '20 automatic gets about 20 to 22 mpg. Both with load range E LT265/75R16 tires. No rubbing issues.

I did some minor trimming on the front before the bumper went on. If you don't plan on wheeling you should be good. Im also using the stock UCAs until I make the jump to JBAs or something similar

Edit: It only rubbed on plastic for me. Cleared cab mount and UCAs

My C load 265/75/16 Duratracs didn't change the mpg much. I'll assume it's a little worse with my 2/1" Lift, but don't do much Highway mileage to confirm.

2 big issues will be making sure you add more air to your E rated tires, and the tread design of the tires you choose. Depending on the type of driving you do, both have pretty major impacts on rolling resistance.

Is that just the photo angles, or is that really as tight as it looks? That looks like that would rub all day long on the roads I drive. If so I might need to rethink this and plan on a lift at the same time?

It looks like the mudflaps would be a no go as well.

I am looking at the Duratracs as well. While I might not need a 10 Ply E rated tire most of the time, the rocks in Eastern WA, OR and ID are sharp and it can be pretty remote at times with a blown sidewall. The C rated Duratracs look like a fair compromise in rolling weight for daily use with a little stronger sidewall over the SL tires.

The downside is all these tires are expensive. Costco has a deal on the BFG K02's and Km3's and while they won't mount them.. Discount Tire will match the deal.

I've always done business with Les Schwabs....as he was an icon in the community... however they are not what they used to be... and frankly, if they don't get their shit together with modern business models they will go the way of Sears if they aren't careful. I appreciate the service they have provided when I've broken down on the road and needed a tire fixed.... but they are 30% higher on anything comparable to the K02's (like the Razr AT)... and that service, while appreciated is just not worth the markup. I used to have some hookups, but they have all moved on to greener pastures and into retirement. Been out of the loop for too long.

I've made myself nauseous looking at tires today...I'm going to just sit on it for a week, and cool off....I'm spending money like it is somebody elses. lol

I have the General Grabbers on my truck, E rated 265/75/16. I’ve had them for a little less than 10K miles now. My current tank is almost empty (less than 1/4 left) and my tank average for this one is 18.5mpg.

That and the nearly extra 15 lbs / tire in rolling weight. Not much you can do about that.

    please don’t get duratracs.

just don’t do it. They’re not good tires. They look cool but their traction is worse than most. Wet roads - they’re slicks. Ice - worse. They’re louder than other tires that have better traction.

sidewalls are also comparatively weak and susceptible to getting sliced on the sharp rocks found on blasted forestry roads of the PNW and BC

First two photos are full lock either way. Last is wheel straight, showing the rear fender. If you're concerned about the rub just see where its happening and trim. A lot of guys do the viper cut in front and minor trimming in back. Mudflaps did have to go!

If you’re concerned about mileage, this truck was probably a poor purchase decision on your part. Even stock, they get poor mileage.

Poor mileage is a powerstroke that gets 8-9 towing and 13 hwy unloaded.

Got anything specific to add regarding the tires?
