hello friends. I’m getting a 2 inch leveling kit out on my access cab 4 cyl Tacoma and I was wondering how big of a tire can I go with out losing a ridiculous amount of power. I am currently running 245 75 r16 bf Goodrich a/t. I was wondering if I should go with 265 75 16 or 285 75 16. Thanks again

What is ridiculous amount of power? I will say on my 2011 Dbl Cab Offroad with 4.0l V6 and an auto going from the stock 265-70 R16 to 265-75 R16 was noticeable. Where it was the most noticeable was at 40-45mph 5-10 percent inclines with larger tire it felt better when shifted out of OD down to 4th gear. This was done by throttle or manually shifting to 4th. I can still cruise at 80mph no problem and still have plenty of power but it was a noticeable slight change. Going from the 245 to the 285 would be approx. a 7 percent increase in circumference and approx. 1.6" wider. I would stick with either the 265 or see if there is a 245-80 16. Going wider will also most likely be better with a wider wheel. A couple questions should be asked are the current tires: what ply are they and what ply are the other sizes available with. If you go up in ply the weight will also increase. When the diameter and weight increases it will also impact stopping power.

I'm running duratracs 285 75 r16 I love the look but you can feel the lost power with the extra weight. It also will wear out suspension parts faster bushings, bearings, ball joints. It's a trade-off looks for performance.
