That was my plan too, quality lift, moderate tire size and maybe a mix of aluminum and steel armor. I got my truck new in 19 and paid it off 3 years ago, it’s got 94k miles and I still haven’t really touched it lol. Technically it’s “lifted” an inch but I don’t really count that, it’s just spacers for a little bump in height to match the tires. It’s been a great set up though, I typically frown on that stuff but it’s so minimal, I haven’t had any issues in like 50k miles.

Most of the stuff I do now days is super easy, I really just use 4Lo for slow speed control and so I don’t get banged around on the bumps. That climb was decently steep but not hard at all. I think a good comparison of the places I drive would be like Softroading The West if you ever watch his content. What places you hit in your area? I used to go to Stonyford a lot but my friends who still live there said it’s gotten a little crazy lately. lol

Hell yeah!! Rig is looking good. I’ve done a few long trips the last few years with buddies. Did Moab , Colorado, New Mexico , Arizona. Also just did Death Valley a month back. So awesome. Locally I go to the Sierras (Tahoe) A lot with my buddies that live up there. Lots of spots North of me as well. I usually get out at least twice a month. Work gets in the way LOL!!

Nice! I’ve done Moab and the Rubicon, everything else was pretty much no name spots we found just exploring. Colorado is definitely on my list of places to see. I’ve seen tons of videos on Arizona but haven’t really researched it so I don’t have much of an opinion yet. Now that I live in Idaho there are tons of places in Oregon and Utah I want to check out. And of course, this place is paradise as well. I do miss the Sierras though, I used to do a lot of dual sport riding off 395 also. The eastern Sierras are super awesome.

The white XJ was my first build, one picture was at Moab and the snowy one is way up in the mountains around Stonyford. That was probably like 15 years ago. The green XJ was my second one, that’s out on some random wash near Pyramid Lake. It was a good rig, I built it reliable and road worthy but it wheeled nicely. 33s got me everywhere without the headache of 35s. 2012-06-05_17-09-31_882.jpg 20140404_183514.jpg 25568_346333048266_502728266_3635268_6438501_n.jpg

Here is a picture of my Kenda Klever A/T2 K628 265/70R16 tires. The tire store wanted $50 more for the set of 265/75R16 tires. They didn't have 245/65R16 size in stock either, so I went with these.

Finally installed my Falkens yesterday, so far they’re great! Super smooth, drives nice and way quieter than Duratracs. They do have a bit of a hum but it’s not bad at all. Going on a road trip this weekend so I’ll see how they do on the highway. IMG_6858.jpg

    Another stock truck with 265/75s

Finally pulled the plug on Toyo AT3s yesterday. Even at 35psi, they ride so much nicer than the stock tires and seem to pair well with the stock suspension.

This should really just be the factory size on the “Off Road” models.

It's been a while but my 2022 Off Road came with 265/70R16 - maybe the TRD Pro came stock with 265/75R16. Anyway that was my first mod 265/75R16 BFG KO2s, rock sliders and a steel front engine skid plate replacing the stock Off Road skid plate. No lift, no suspension upgrade - nothing else and I able to do quite a lot off road - none of the difficult or extreme stuff but the easy and some intermediate stuff. I learned a lot and gained experience taking good lines etc. but those little bigger and much tough 265/75R16 KO2 served me well.

TRD OR and TRD Pro came with the same tires.

I made the same upgrades as you though and I’m able to get anywhere I’ve tried to. Though I did end up using the skids and sliders for a few places in Moab.

That’s what I need are some rock sliders. I don’t plan on heavily modding my truck either, it’ll never wheel like my previous modified Jeeps did but honestly the Taco does alright. Mainly I avoid pushing it just to avoid body damage but it’ll do a great deal of stuff if you pick the right lines like you said.

I did a .5 spacer in the front that yielded about an inch of lift plus a small rear block to compensate for my topper that I never remove. Eventually I’d like to get some nice shocks and maybe upgrade the springs too. I’d like to keep it at 1.5 inches or less of lift and maybe even bump up to skinny 33s one day but I keep holding out most because that once in a while that I tow. The 265/75s are great, slightly bigger but don’t really affect the MPG or power much at all.

perfect plan. I had 2 sets of geo 33’s MT’s. Came back down to a 265/75/16 C Rated tire. Light off-roading for me paired with some kings set maybe at 1.5” ride is fantastic. Rig is paid off definitely not going to beat on it but definitely having fun.

I wish I was that good (still learning) - I have seen some stuff at Uhwarrie meaning rigs on 32s with no lift doing some of the hard stuff - there is even a guy in an old Forester who said it had a lift but it was old and sagging and he has so much skill he can do anything guys with lifts and 35s do - it's amazing.

I am lifted now and on 33s armored all the way back with a couple of other mods like spindle gussets exhaust re-route etc. and I can hang with the rigs with 35s and even 37s some but to be honest I've made it through some tough obstacles but not with doing minor body damage. I'm OK with it though that's what I bought it for.

People always think if more is better than way to much is just enough. I’m one of those weird people who enjoy doing more with less. My truck is paid off too and while I don’t mind taking some calculated risks I’m not really into destroying it either. I might ditch my sway bar, I need to do something with my rear springs too. I like the idea of that Icon AAL but I’m afraid it might sit too high with just 1 inch of overall lift in the front. Longer rear shocks might help too…stupid blocks…

Just got back from a 850 mile trip and the Rubitreks were awesome. I like the 116 load range for sure, it rides nice and they feel great in the corners, yet they’re not hard on bumps. I’m running about 35 psi and got close to 20 mpg on my last half tank or so. I was really loaded too (almost on the bump stops, came back home with a bunch of heavy stuff), kept it about 70 mph the entire time. I’m pretty happy with my Taco even though I still despise the seats after 97k miles IMG_6892.jpg

After first tank the mpgs seem to be about what I was getting before. Went to 265/75/16 E load Falkan Wildpeak tires and a Dirt King 2” lift.
