    Hey folks,

Would 265s on a 2.5" 885/5100/Wheeler AAL look "off" on a 2014 DCLB? I ordered 265/70/17 load C general grabber ATX and they're on the way. I was set on 265s due to driving 1500ish miles a month and am not up to trimming yet. However I just saw my first DCLB on 285 and couldn't believe how good it looks. I am here asking this because I haven't seen any lifted 2.5 gens around here before today. So for those who have seen them in person... Would it still look good?

Appreciate your responses in advance and HAPPY NEW YEARS

265/70/17 is about 1" taller than stock, same width. IMO that is the sweet spot-on size. They look a little better, are reasonably priced, aren't so big that they hurt fuel mileage, and any loss of power is negligible. That is the biggest size you can use without modifying the truck and they still look good with a small lift to me.

A 285 is only 20mm wider, (about 3/4"). You don't give the rest of the tire size so I can only guess about the tire's height, bult the most common are going to be about 2" taller than stock. But now you must modify the truck, tires cost more, fuel mileage starts to take a noticeable drop, and you might want to consider re-gearing to get power back. Especially if you tow. To me the negatives start to out-weigh the positives. You only gain a 3/4" wider tire and only gain 1/2" more ground clearance over the tires you ordered. About 1" over stock.

But obviously lots of guys think that size is the way to go, and the negatives are worth it to them. Just be aware of the downsides if you choose to go that way.
