Mine's a manual, and I've logged every single fillup since new with every style of driving. Never managed to crack 20mpg.

I'm in Tomball as well and commute to Katy I average 21 mpg per tank. If I take 99 it drops significantly 75mph = 14 mpg a bit disappointing.

I notice I Crack 20 and more cruising in 6th gear from 35mph on up. Of course if I accelerate or hit a hill around 35-40mph in 6th, I have to down shift. Is made to do that. But I Crack 20+ all the time. But with regular driving in 5th at those speeds, I never Crack 18 mpg. Maybe try cruising in a higher gear at lower speeds if you haven't already.

Ithought you were the one saying you get 28mpg in a 1st gen. My bad dude. But that's how I drive. Love taking it easy in a manual as much as i do hauling ass. If not I usually haul a little ass and shift around 3k using 1st, 2nd, 3rd, by then I'm at 40-45mph and I skip into 6th and within 2-3 minutes I'm at 20 or 19.5. Keep cruising like that and I get up to 22 easy . It helps a lot skipping gears.

Also try getting gas somewhere else than where you normally get it. Gas quality has a lot to do with gas mileage too. Sometimes water is in the underground gas tanks, abs that will affect gas mileage negatively

One shows average mpg by vehicle, and the other shows by fill up. It's the standard distribution of mileage for all 2016 Tacomas with 3.5L.

I can get 25 mpg in my 2006 4runner V8 while going 45-50 mph on a flat road while maintaining a constant speed. Now granted, I don't typically drive in those conditions. My average mpg is 16-18 mixed.

Point is, we all see good MPG on short trips with full tanks downhill etc. Fuelly tells the real story on what you can expect from these trucks. I've logged every mile since new and I've never seen anything over 20mpg. I'm happy with the mileage and it's about what I expected. I'm getting 17-19mpg from a TRD Offroad with manual transmission, stock suspension wheels and tires. Only modifications potentially affecting economy are a camper shell which weighs about 100 pounds, side steps, and mudflaps. I drive like an old man, but do lots of city miles and off-road.
