No you wont. Turn the engine off entirely and watch the numbers soar. Until you start uphill anyway.

Today i logged some for data from a 40 mile drive through various terrain. I took snapshots every time the speed changed or terrain... quzahesy_e3580643c49ef843d3603adce9a5e8df809ff4cc.jpgjureze6a_abc622882b1ee965f7d1e2c98bf6ee602e38a171.jpga6umy9un_2232ffcd1849a31e1151aee126c2e3da1733807b.jpg

so basically you're driving 45 mph in 5th at your high speed and 15mph in like 3rd gear.. totally unrealistic driving behaviors.

Unless you get a constant 27 mpg driving like it was intended this all means nothing.

i can get 87 mpg according to my ultra gauge going down hill in 5th on the freeway.. but that's not a constant.

My dude... Im basically showing different stages of driving over a 40 mile period. It shows speeds ranging from 15 to 60mph with different engine load percentages so you can clearly see im not coasting downhill in 5th. I took screen shots when the numbers plateaued... Also none of this driving took place on the freeway. If you drive in 5th gear at 45mph your fuel economy drops way down. This is how i drive when i want fuel economy so its realistic for me. But you dont have to believe any of this, lets all just meet up and see whos truck drives the farthest ha.

lol we measure in 100 kilometers to liters :p. BUT we also have gallons as well, though ours are a different measure. The US gallon is 3.79 liters where as the metric gallon is 4.40 liters

    Crazy stuff I tell ya!

Do you confirm those numbers the old fashioned way of recording your mileage when filling your tank, driving off that tank, and dividing the number of miles driven by the number of gallons to refuel to the same level? If so, to what do you attribute this above average mpg reading?

I got over 100 mpg in a supercharged mustang. All I had to do was reset my mpg while going down hill with the clutch in doing 80. So totally possible. * please for the love of oz note the sarcasm*

I got 320 city/ country roads on 31's with my v6 double cab heck. But seriously that was my average until I lifted it and put 33's on. Now I only got 285 city out of this last tank. Of course I am pre runner

Thats the way iv been doing it for the last 4 years and I recently started recording it from the ECU to confirm the numbers Iv been coming up with. Granted, not every tank is the same and obviously the mpgs are constantly changing depending on speed, terrain, atmospheric pressure, all that stuff. I attribute my mileage at this point to the camper shell adding aerodynamics, less restriction on the motor with intake, headers, exhaust, normal size tires with normal tread, stock height, gauges to monitor driving, fresh full synthetic oil and filter, new iridium spark plugs, new timing belt, less restrictive MAF sensor... I believe all of these things factor into the mpg equation and when certain things start to wear out the fuel economy drops and right now, because of all the maintenance, my fuel economy is peaking...

You do realize that plug-in OBD-II devices need to be calibrated for both distance and fuel usage, right?

An off the shelf Ultragauge will read 5+mpg above actual.

I'll be the first one to say that 20-22 is possible with a V6 4x4 driven under the right conditions and without hypermiling.

But the driving you described my little 2.7 5-lug RC would only be getting 18-20, and I peak at 25-26.

    No... you didn't get 27mpg.
If you don't believe me, gas up and try to drive 570 miles without stopping.

Make sure you have a cellphone and AAA card.

just looking at his 'snapshots', I fail to see the 27.2 MPG average, I see numbers ranging from 18+ to 24.6, math was one of my strengths, and I can tell you there is no 27.2 MPG average going on here...

the math is not right, do it the old fashioned way, top tank off, reset trip odometer, drive until empty, fill up again, divide gallons used into miles driven, walla, only way to know for sure...

I want what he is smoking...jeesh...

I get about 400 on a full tank. My ultraguage has me averaged at 19.9... I have a 21.1 gallon tank...

    19.9
    X 21.1
    419.89

give or take some times i have to slam on the ham and my mileage changes dramatically for a few miles... i usually get up to or around 400 per tank with regular unleaded in a 2012 4.0 4x4 access cab.

like said earlier, just pluggin your phone in (which it looks like your using) has not calibrated to your vehicle and driving habits. so its gonna be off anyway.. Leave your phone constantly hooked up to this for over a couple weeks, then start looking at the numbers.. if you have a manual, you can get 99 MPG downhill in 5/6 or N... there is alot of people that have tried to squeeze the most MPG out of there vehicles on here and what you are claming just isnt in a reasonable range. Get an Ultra-gauge (which a groupbuy is still going on right now to get it cheaper) or Scan gauge and leave it plugged in.. you will see a major difference after a few day, much less a few weeks.

    Ok, OP.

    Here's what you do:
Fill up your tank and reset your trip odometer to zero.
Drive for at LEAST 1/2 a tank, and then fill back up. Divide Miles Traveled by Gallons Used and compare the numbers from your manual math to that of your handy-dandy MPG Gauge that says you're getting 27mpg's.

Then send the gauge back to the manufacturer, because it's clearly not working.
