OP, were you going downhill after just filling the tank? No way you’re getting that kind of mpg under normal circumstances.

I got 30 MPG on a trip average ... once. Since I have never repeated it, I assume it is either a computer error or just one of those unrepeatable circumstances, like a special alignment of the planets.

You can't rely on what these gauges on the dash claim, they can be very misleading. Do the actual math for the actual amount of fuel used vs the mileage on the odo.

So this is at the gas station where you regularly top off your full tank after a 34 mile trip? I also only ever use about 1 gallon at a time. Wouldn't want that gas tank to rust, y'knowo_O

No, I rarely try and hypermile on purpose, but I had some time today so I gave it shot. Normally unloaded I see about 20mpg. With 1000lbs or so in the bed, maybe 17mpg. I needed fuel when I left Elsinore...filled up at a station I've used plenty (I deliver a truck load of parts to a customer out there once a week)....then filled up when I got off the freeway at a station I've also used before just to check the computer's math....pretty close.

Nice. I bet if you cut that 34 mile trip in half and fill up one exit earlier, you could probably reach a 30+ mpg tank average.

I can get about 23 mpg on a straight flat road with cruise set on 55. If I got to 60 on the same road, it drops to about 21.

That is how much I get 28 mpg going 45 mph most of the time. No shit and I do the math all the time and it it is pretty close to what it says on the dash gauge. I also use 85 octane.

For me the other day. Not common for me, but when traffic is just right I get good milage. Stock wheels and tires.

    Yup.

People: (present company excluded) Octane has nothing to do with mileage or most of the other marketing fluff they imply to get you to waste money on.
