This wiring harness will allow splicing into the existing 28 pin connection to the head unit without damaging factory harness.

--Access reverse signal input to allow switching rear view camera on when not in reverse.
--Access vehicle speed sensor input to allow passenger to input addresses and modify other settings that are normally locked out while driving.
--Access to aux audio input wires for adding second (same line) input location (i.e. center console, glovebox, back seat)
--Access to steering wheel control inputs
    --Access to remote microphone inputs

Compatible with most late model Toyota, Scion and Subaru vehicles with the 28 pin connector.

    Fits 2013+ Tacoma

Harness is fully pinned, so it has several spare wire leads if needed.

Do you have any information on what else would be needed to use the backup cam while in motion? I'm interested in one for this purpose.

    Check pgs 8-9.

    SPD (Pin 17)
    REV (Pin 2)

This is the end that plugs to the head unit. The wire on the lower row separated by my thumb is Pin 17.
    20161228_213534.jpg

This wire on the upper row is Pin 2.

I'm surprised more 3rd gen folks don't look here. This part would be hot in the 3rd gen marketplace.
I found parking brake, video input, reverse sig, and navi bypass without hacking the OEM harness.

The AOB switch will have 4 leads. Two go to the switch illumination (+12V, GND). The other two are input/output. So, for NAV, cut Pin 17 and connect the ends to the input/output wires.

So per the OP I take one wire to the +12 to light. The - to gnd. Then when I cut 17 does it matter which part of the cut goes to the other 2. Or does it matter depending if switch is on or off?
So I take pin 17 to one leg and pin 2 to other. And if the switch is off and GPS works but I don't want GPS on just switch the 2 wires from the harness? I think I'm over thinking this.

Doesnt matter which side wires from 17 are on. It is a SPST switch. In the OFF position the nav lockout should be disabled. In the ON position it should work as factory.

OK. Thanks a lot for your help.will work on it tomorrow. Also does the factory HU in a 17 Tacoma allow for video from a phone, if I want to stream Netflix to HU?

I am not sure if it allows for wireless streaming, but you can connect RCA jacks to this harness via aux video inputs. With 1 or 2 adapters, you can plug into some phones.

See my revised post. Dont know what I was thinking. Pin 2 is for reverse camera. For nav lockout, just Pin 17 both sides of cut wire will be connected to I/O.

Reverse camera mod requires a diode to prevent back feed of voltage to the reverse signal wire.

I cut off an old RCA jack I had laying around the house and soldered the female end into the harness. Left and Right Audio grounds will be tied together and R+ red, L+ white. Video will have its own V+ and V-.

I believe the aux in with the usb is also tied to these inputs. It might be worth checking out if you can find adapter for the headphone jack style A/V connecter to the phone. I cut the harness and put the RCA on in case i add a front camera. May not be necessary for just connecting a phone display.
