I've searched through a few different forums, but still have a couple of questions regarding fitting 285/70/17's on my 2008 DC Tacoma. I currently have Icon C/O's set at 2" and replacement Bilsteins in the rear with no lift and 265/70/17. I just ordered a set of 17x9 KMC XD Hoss with 4.5 backspacing. I was thinking of upgrading to 285/70/17 when it comes time to have them installed Friday.

Will I have to buy spacers to make it fit, and will I have major rubbing with the stock UCA's? I only go off-road when hiking and when hauling motorcycles, so no heavy duty rock-crawling. I have already removed the mud flaps and understand there will be some minor trimming, but will it work?

    Thanks,
    Mike

I believe you'll be fine, you may rub a little, but you'd be better off getting a 4" backspace (Lower offset, probably closer to -10)

First, you'll need to crank the front up to 2.5-3" of lift. Then you will have to trim a bit of the plastic and possibly chop your body mount, but there's plenty of people running that combo on here.

You might rub at full lock without the body mount chop. Depends...some do, some don't

Off topic: man, there are a lot of members on here with the user name mxracer....

Seeing the third gen section forced me to get a Ford...
4.5"BS is fine for 285s. they will keep the tire from rubbing the UCAs. like KPT said, you will need to crank up those COs a bit.
