i just ordered some 285/70/17 tires with a 3" lift on TRD pro rims.
Anyone know if I can run these without trimming or spacers?

    Cart before the horse..awesome.

Depends on the wheel but probably little to no trimming.

What kind of 3" lift? Spacers? Suspension? Upper Control Arms?

To fit 285's you'll want to remove front mud flaps and be prepared to trim the wheel well liners and possibly fenders.

Make sure you get a good alignment done after install. Having positive caster (+2.5 or greater) helps prevent rubbing when compressing/flexing.

    Are you planning on wheeling?
Or let me guess. RC lift, TRD Pro wheels 285 70 17 BFG KO2s? So mall crawling?
If you're not actually wheeling, other than mud flaps and maybe some fender trimming you'll be ok probably.
But if you're going to be doing a full lock turn with a wheel compressed you'll rub on cab mount.

EDIT:Just saw above post about Toyo.

the reason you're getting replies like this is because the help your asking for could be found with a quick search since this thread gets made every week from new members.
You are the first to not be getting KO2s though.

LOL Don't let everyone get under your skin, yo. Rough Country is a bad word around here because... well... it's not good stuff.

You're spending good money on wheels that are going to look nice. Good money on tires that can perform and will look nice. But you won't have a lift that does... well anything really. If you never plan to go off road that's probably fine. Just so long as you know that in advance! :) And if you don't plan to go off-road then you probably won't need to trim much to make those 33" tires fit either.

My 33's fit just fine... until I went to Moab with them. And then they tore themselves up by rubbing so much.

Well, I live in South Louisiana so my options are very limited outside of mud.
I use my jeep for having the fun I need to.

It's all about what you intend to get out of it. If you're going for looks I'd say you're fine.

But lots of folks get hosed by dealers and shops thinking their Rough Country kits turn their trucks into off-road capable bad asses all the time. Proper suspension systems are expensive though. I went the Old Man Emu route because I wanted something quality but still had to keep a budget. It was still expensive though.

if you won't really be wheeling much might not want to go with a 285 then.
I get the look idea but it will probably hurt MPG a bit and the RC lift you're thinking of is terrible quality.
You'd be better off levelling or even a small lift with like blistein or OME, and maybe a 265 70 17.
You won't need to trim and it will be a nice look.

Seriously I don't think there is anything good to be said about RC lift.
As long as you're aware of that, its your money do what you want. Just trying to warn you, there is much better stuff out there.

I will be the first to say I don't know enough about all of this but I was under the impression this was where I should ask.

    Same case for me.
I'll be off road with mine so figure pay and do it right the first time. So went with Fox lift.
Pretty penny but hey talked to a few shops and other members about it, all said the same thing, if I'll use it I won't be disappointed.
Besides overkill is fun...just not on the wallet haha.

Calm down bud. We tend to eat our own here, especially the noobs. Now that you got that outta the way and have discovered the search function you will be ok.

I'm in NW, LA. Exactly where are you? I might be able to help point you to a few spots. Lone star Toyota Jamboree is coming up in May at Barnwell Mountain. It'll be a good time.

You can find a lot of info here.
One thing you'll find quick is well ya...not many are fond of rough country here.

Consider the OME and bilstein before you buy.
Consider your use, if you're not actually wheeling you probably don't need a 285.

I'm running a 3" lift w/ a similar tire/wheel combo w/ no cutting, no spacers, and no rubbing. Truck has 20k miles all w/ this setup. I off-road out here in Corado and haven't had any issues.
