    I have a ‘17 OR, stock suspension with 16x8 / 0 offset Method NV’s.

Been thinking long and hard on whether I should upgrade my brand new 265/75/16 Falken Wildpeaks with the 285/75/16s.

I will be lifting the truck about 2” in the future but wanted some input on running the tires without lift for a bit.

I know they will rub and some trimming / CMC will be required, but the question is how bad will it rub until I get the trimming/chop done?

Will it be drivable around town? Not planning on wheeling with it, until it is at least trimmed and CMC’ed.

Not sure “how bad” the rubbing would be, or if it could hurt the tires.

Feel free to share input / pictures.

    As it currently sits:

CMC, Pinch weld hammer, trimming of fender but I believe your caster is whats going to hurt you. Alignment twice isn't ideal but 3.5+ caster for 33" tires. If you really want 33" I would at least but 2" spacers till you get your quality lift.

Yep, all those “fixes” are in my future.

But looking some feedback on “how bad” the rub actually will be till the fixes get implemented.

Depends on your offset, alignment, etc, etc.

I was rubbing a lot on my mudflaps with my 285s when I first had them on. I pushed my caster forward and it helped a bit but was still rubbing a good amount. I ended up adjusting my coilovers from 1.5" to about a little over 2" and all the rubbing went away aside from going to full lock in reverse. I modified my mud flaps a little bit but that's it. No CMC yet.

Really like the look of your trucks’ set up with no lift just wheels and tires!

No mud flaps and stock suspension.

Did you ever have your 285s on stock suspension?

Thanks man. Looking to get just a bit more rubbet under it.

Oh no, only when I lifted it. I know you *can* run 285s on stock suspension but I believe on stock OR wheels. There's a guy a on youtube who did it. Plenty of people are running skinny 33" 255s on stock suspension if you don't care about the width.

    Yeah, saw that.

My question is specific to stock OR suspension, 285/71/16s and 0 offset wheels.

[IMG] They *should* fit. I'm willing to wager that they'll rub close to full lock.

Yeah. I just want to be able to drive on pavement without any “real” issues for a bit.

Id like to put on the tires and then modify the fenders / cab mount as needed.

I might not even lift (if I can get away with it).

Before I got my lift, I was running 286/75/16s with 10mm offset wheel, on a stock OR suspension. I had no rubbing on the driver side (unless highly compressed and turning left) but had some rubbing on passenger side at full right turn. I measured each side and found that the passenger side was 1" farther back than the driver side, hence causing the rub. Even though I knew my upcoming lift would correct this, I took to the dealer for adjustment because I didn't want it to rub for the weeks leading up to the lift install. The dealer was awesome and adjusted it for free, even though they didn't seem to be obligated to. It fixed the issue and I drove 98% rub free for the weeks leading up to my lift. I now am sitting on Icon Stage 3 with 2.75" / 1.5" and I have no rub issues. Very satisfied with the outcome. Hope this is helpful to you!

Hmm... that is the kind of feedback that I wanted.

I see alignment specs will have to do a lot with it.

How bad was the “rub” at full right turn, before you got it corrected at the dealer?

Any photos of said set up, before the lift?

    Thanks!

The rub on the passenger side wasn't "That" bad, but I didn't like it. Here are some pics:

Oh, you probably wanted a pic of the passenger side. Apologies, but these are kind of dark:

Thanks for the pics! For some reason, the tires look like my 265/75/16s! Probably the angles.

Im guessing the wheels where 16x8?

These wheels are 16x7.5. They are the stock 2015 TRD Pro wheels, but in graphite.

Dude your truck looks perfect the way it currently sits!

If you're gonna run 285s, you'll need at least 2.5" Bilsteins or if you have more $$$ to spend go with the Icon or Fox kits.

    I love your truck tho!

Dang, so 0.5” narrower and also 10mm more offset.

I might be screwed since my combo would be about 1/3” wider on each side than what yours did.

My wheels are half an inch wider and 10 less ofset.

Thanks man, just want that little extra to set it aside from the “crowd” a bit. :hattip:
