Hey guys I have a question maybe some one can help me with. I was wondering if i could run a 285/75/16 tire on a stock 2015 sr5 wheel until scs gets their new shipment of wheels in. I am having icon ext travel coilovers, icon ucas, icon rear shocks and a dakar pack installed today. I would like to get the new tires but dont know if it will rub super bad with the stock wheels. I have a pelfrybilt front bumper so the only place i am really worried about rubbing is the ucas and the cab mount (which i will eventually do a cmc if needed). Any thoughts are appreciated.

And the other thing i forgot to mention is, are the stock wheels even wide enough to handle that size tire?

The tires Im thinking about getting are the BFG M/T if that makes a difference at all since tires do vary.

The correct wheel width is 8" with an acceptable range of 7.5" to 9". What width are your wheels? They would look a little stupid on a 7.5" wheel if that's what you have. The real problem you will run into if you try it without spacers is the steering knuckle will definitely interfere and maybe the UCA will too.

It's going to rub even with the SCS mounted with the 285's.

I'm running 285/75r16 on the stock wheel with no spacers, no lift and no trimming. Barely rubs the uca in reverse at full lock. Never rubbed off road and I've flexed it to the point of lifting the tires at opposite corners. Tires are nankang mudstars.

im lifted 3" w/ 4.5" BS rims, mudflaps removed and new UCA's and i still hit the cab mount when i flex.

That's awesome but your profile is incomplete so it doesn't help us understand why it works for you where others experience a complete fail. Pleas tell us what year your truck is, if your steelies are what came with it from the factory, and (if you happen to know) your wheel's width and backspacing.

It's a 2014 4x4. Stock wheels that came with the truck. I do think these tires run a little small compared to others. I think it doesn't rub because of the stock backspacing. It keeps the tire out of the cab mount and the wheel well. I'm really thinkingredients of going 315/75r16 in the same tire with spidertrax spacers, same stock wheels, and some trimming with no lift next. I kind of enjoy figuring out how to make stuff like this work when people swear that it wont.

Also I'm pretty sure the stock steelies are 16x7.5 with a 5.5 in bs.

I believe my alloy wheels are 7" wide with 5.25" backspacing. The raised letters on the sidewalls of my 265/75-16s are less than 1/4", probably only 1/8", from the bump on the steering knuckle. On the outside chance that the 285s could be even bolted up they would for sure be locked up tight and wouldn't roll.

If anyone wants, I'll go out and snap pics of all the spots that are normally clearance issues. I'm not saying that all 285's will bolt right up with no issue, I'm just saying that these tires did.

Also keep in mind the rc is super light so articulaion might be sacrificed as the whole truck lifts up instead.

I am not surprised that the RC has little rubbing issues.

Previously owning an 07 RC, I never had rubbing issues with 285's or 255/85's. But now with a '13 AC.. It involved much more cutting and trimming to fit larger tires.

Perhaps it's something about the positioning of the front differential in RC that's different than the other body styles? Or, as previously mentioned, the lighter weight of the vehicle.

    Either way, that's awesome!

285/75/16 Stock wheels no rubbing on 3" lift and LR UCAs and no spacers kinda close to the UCA but still 3/4" from it kinda thinking about 1/2" spacers

Covered in stickers and chrome stick-ons for extra horse torques and foot powers. Icon sticker gets me tons of travel, dozens of milimeters.
    Narrowest 285 I've ever seen...
