Found this thread and it really has me thinking about going 285/75/17 but I’m wondering about all the mods I’ll have to get them to fit, I have 6112/5160 with JBA UCAs and I have an aftermarket front bumper so I have a ton of room up front. What would I have to do to get them to fit in the rear though? Any input would do thanks

I have the exact same suspension setup and a front bumper as well. Pretty sure this is the next size I’ll be going with too. You shouldn’t have to do anything in the rear. The front is always where the clearance issues are.

You’re gonna feel it. The real question is are you going to feel a regear is necessary. That’s pretty subjective due to driving style etc

    Figured I add mine here - 285/70/17

Funny thing is I didn’t rub until after my CMC... Which makes no sense at all... but oh wells...

Going to 35s anyways! (35 up front versus 285 in rear) - No i don’t drive like this, just a spare to get an idea of what trimming I need to do.

Could you guys help me confirm that this setup would work. Truck is a 17’ DCSB with ADS suspension on all four corners, CMC, JBAs and enough caster to clear. Rocking 255s but they are just not doing it for me anymore although I have not really been let down by them. Want to go to 285/75R17 obviously and was thinking SCS wheels would be the best bet until I came across Method 701s in a 17x9 6x5.5 et-12 BS is 4.60”. From what I can figure out they should be good to go without rubbing on the control arms. Pretty slick wheel with the bead grip. Would like that little extra while airing down and have always drank the method kool-aid. So it seems to be a decent fit for me over the coveted SCS wheels. Thanks for your help!

Agreed. For me it drives pretty well around town and at 62 mph indicated. Lots of gear hunting on hilly freeways. I've got gears on the way.

Yeah, I’m only on 285/70/17 and I was fine with it around town but on long trips it would shift to no end. Ended up with 4.88s and I’m happy. Not sure how they would feel with 285/75/17 though.

I’m running 285/70/17 BFG’s on Ray 10’s. Fox DSC’s all around with Icon RXT leaf pack. I ended up re-gearing to 4.88’s. Really happy I did. Feels like a “normal” truck now with the bigger tires. Same old story, it wouldn’t really pull 6th gear (AT) on anything but flat ground over 70. Now it hauls ass. I like that.

How is there THAT much of a difference! 35 makes the 34 look like a 33 or smaller

Trying to plan out my build, for those of you running a 5160 and 6112 with spc or jba upper control arms, what did you do to make this fit on a 3rd gen? I have a set sitting on ray10 with -10 offset.

Looks great. Any rubbing? How much trimming have you done? I already have a CMC, heat molded and trimmed some plastic. Wondering if I would have to do any more to go up from 285/70 to 285/75

Old post I know, but that should work. I was initially leaning this way as well, until my local shop pointed out that:

    - The methods are strong, but really heavy. Compared to an SCS in the same size, expect to be 7-8lbs per corner heavier on the wheels.
    - Unless you routinely touch single digits you probably don't need bead grip. They said they regularly go down to 15psi and couldn't blow a bead even trying with a fully built Tundra.

Thanks man - depending on your wheel offset, more than likely you'll have to flatten the pinch welds too and possibly trim the rear corners of your plastic fenders. No rubbing on the street, but some minor rubbing when off the pavement.
