    Hello,

Sorry for the new thread. Looking for new wheels and tires. I found a good thread with 285/75/17's but I'm a little lost on how well this will fit.

I'm adding 2" of lift, new UCA's (SPC). I've not picked my wheels so if an offset would help I can factor that in.

Anyone running this size with 2" lift or less? Was trimming needed and what wheels do you have?

    Thanks

    Gordon

Just a CMC? Cool that doesn't seem so bad.

You’ll need a aggressive cmc install, pound pinch weld flat, trim the fender liner and fender flare on the inside of the lower wheel well. I have right at 2 3/4 in up front with 17x9in rims with 4.5bs.
Also get a new alignment and have them try to get your caster 3.0 or better and everything as close to zero.

This was my struggle with 285/75/17s might as well of cut 2in off my fenders and did 315s.
It’s a big tire for the Tacoma but fills the fenders real sweet like.

Is it a 3rd gen? I have this exact set up (spc UCA’s and 2” toytec lift) and have 0 rubbing after removing mud flaps. Wheels are 17” black rhino york I believe -12 offset and tires are 285/75/17 Toyo RT’s. 0 trimming/no CMC

Plus what @MattCowsmasher said and then probably re-gear in order to turn those big heavy bitches.

    I'm down to re-gear, 5.29 planned.

Anyone know what the sweet spot might be for offset? Sounds like MGMSangTaco's -12mm needs less work.

TBH I don’t think re-gear is necessary. I drove it stock for 25k and I thought it felt amazing driving it with the bigger heavier tires. I now have 25k on the set up and don’t think I will ever re-gear. I have a topper and usually a couple 100lbs load in the bed but no armor so maybe that would make a difference.

Are you just running the 2” front lift and aftermarket UCAs? Do you have any good side view pictures with the canopy on?

What did you end up doing? When my 265's wear out I'm also going 285/75/17.

Do you have a picture of them on the truck? Also, the only one I can find is that it is a +12 offset, do you have a link where you got yours? (at least it does not specify the "-12" and just says 12)

My next move is also 285/75/17... I have a cmc planned. I’m gonna go with tandem model 612 wheels they have a -12 offset.

It’s possible, 285/75/17 cooper XLT at3 with 1.25 wheel spacers and with -10 offset, aggressive CMC and pinch weld. I still need a new alignment for more caster to eliminate slight rubbing in reverse.
