Looking to run some 285/75/16 Goodyear duratracs on method 305 nv wheels 8” 4.5bs/0mm offset after reading through here a few times I’m a little mixed up with wether or not this setup will rub sitting on the stock suspension, seems like I might get away with it if o/p needed a 1.25” spacer on the stock wheels to prevent rubbing the UCA the offset difference of the wheels would be about equal to 1” spacer if I am correct?

You will not rub. I had 0 offset on my 2017 with 33’s and didn’t rub anywhere. No CMC, nothing. 0 to -6 offset is perfect for Tacoma’s.

Does anyone know what is the biggest tire you can run on a stock 3rd gen Off-Road that won't rub on or off road? I have a 2020 DC-SB OR manual on order and I plan to upgrade the wheels and tires pretty early on.

Leer shell, Bilstein 5100 shocks, AAL in rear (2 inch lift), 16" Method 305NV wheels, 285-75-r16 Cooper Discoverer AT3/XLT; grab handle on driver side so I can ACTUALLY GET IN AND OUT WITHOUT RUINING MY LEATHER SEATS lol
Hey so how bogged down was it? Just annoying or unable to get over relatively steep hills? I want to get 285's for my 3rd gen, but I won't be able to afford a regear for a while. Curious if it is worth it to wait another 6 months or if I can go for it and do the regear later?

265/75-16 is the biggest no rubbing, no spacer. Can work on stock suspension and even fits in the spare.

Stock 2021 TRD Off Road w/ 2021 OEM TRD PRO wheels on 285/75 r16 BFG K02’s. No rubbing full lock forward or reverse. I have stuffed the front wheels 10 different ways to Sunday and can’t get it to rub, I tried. I’m sure it would rub at someone point if I was to wheel it hard with this stock suspension.

Plan to lift in the next few weeks but wanted to share my experience with stock suspension. I think the offset of the TRD PRO wheels is key but other have shared rubbing with this same set up so who knows.

    I have a 2017 TRD OffRoad

    -Purchasing Method MR703's in 16x8 / 0 offset / 4.5 spacing

Is there any type of lift that will guarantee not to rub (yes I take it off road) in a 285/75/16 configuration? Or should I just do a small 1-2 inch lift and go 265/75/16?

*** Responses from long term experienced Taco owners with lifts only please!

I had a 2.5/1 Billstein 5100 lift previously with 285/70/17's and they rubbed like crazy.

Wait are those tires 285's or 265's? Your signature says 265's but the post says 285's. That is crazy if 285's are not rubbing on a stock TRD OR.

Thanks for the reminder! Just updated my signature to reflect the 285/75r16's. I had 265's on for about 3 weeks and then upgraded to 285's. It is crazy that i'm not rubbing on my stock TRD OR but I also am on TRD Pro wheels that have a different offset than the stock TRD OR wheels. Very happy with the results.

Lifting your truck won’t help you fit larger tires. That’s got to be the biggest misconception I see on here. What do you think is going to happen when your lifted suspension compresses? Everything is going to end up in the same location it was before you lifted the truck. So if it doesn’t fit with the stock suspension it won’t fit with a lifted suspension. Only way a lifted suspension will help you fit larger tires is when you have your truck parked. Then yes, a lift will help you fit larger tires.

What??? You're gaining clearance? If I raise my truck 2 inches then I would have to compress my suspension an additional 2" to bottom out travel and rub against tires? I can make my Good Year Ultra Terrain 265/70/17 (stock size) rub if I compress the travel enough, but If I extend the travel or lift 2 inches then I'm lessening those chances.

285/75/16 is the way to go! Nitto Grapplers ; Bora .75" spacers and a leveling kit.
