Hey bud, they only rub at full lock, is there a huge risk running the truck this way? My last was a 14' sierra with 3" lift and 35" tires had the same problem and ran that truck for 28,000 miles, I did not see anything wrong.....

Went with new stock size 265-70-16 in the original BFG KO's. Honestly I kind of prefer the more subdued look.image.jpg

Not a huge deal. It will only rub some paint off the UCA. If you don't take it to full lock than it's easy to avoid the situation. The only time it would be a real problem is your offroading and your suspension is compressed, and you need to be at full lock.

Would you still run the uca if you had the spacers or a different wheel with 4.5bs? I want to run 285s but plan on lifting within 2 months. Don't know how much damage I'll do in those 2 months though

Did you notice a big loss in power with the 285's?

Not really, but the gearing is all kinds of funky now. If i have cruise on 70 it sticks in 4th gear..... im looking into a gearing combo that will work!

Mine does that with 265/75/16 now if there is any slight wind or tiny hill. Let me know on any more info you get.

I like that, I would probably go the same route. Any difference at all in ride noise/quality? How about MPGs? I know those tires are the stock size but they weigh quite a bit more, adding rolling resistance with more aggressive tread as well...

Yes that's what I see a lot of people going with. Or 265/70/17.

    Is alignment needed afterwards?

I didn't do it immediately after, but after about a month I just got the lifetime alignment from Firestone.

For those of you running 285/65/16 + factory OR wheels + 2-2.5" of lift... anyone running wheel spacers?

My DCSB OR is on the rail car currently, should be in my hands by the end of next week...

Will be getting my 16' TRD Off Road next week, couldn't be more psyched! I'll likely be pulling my All Terrain TKO's 265/75's off my old truck. Has anybody had any rubbing with this configuration? Also how is the clearance if I needed to put chains on them?

Going to put 5100 at .85 on front and try
285/70/17 toyo at standard load range.
Only 6 lbs per tire heavier then stock 265/70/17.
Hopefully will get it level and not kill mpg and power.
Will give report when get done.
Treehugger how did you like the 285 toyos?

Can you direct me to where that thread is about adjusting the Nav for larger tires. I need to do that, but don't know how.

@treehugger Since its been a few months since the inital install and write-up, how do you like having the 265/75/R16, and what are your thoughts on the 255/85/r16's on this model Tacoma?

I like my 265/75/r16 quite a bit but I think they look a little small after I put the lift on. I also haven't been getting great mpg either after switching. Still around 17.5 after so I say the mpg didn't change much between the 285 and 265. May be due to the weight of the bfg at2.

Funny you mentioned the 255. I've been thinking about going this route lately. Even priced some out at Costco yesterday. My only concern would be rubbing the fender since the diameter is about 1" larger than the 265. Decisions decisions.
