I know this is a 285/75/17 thread (which i currently have).... But considering making the jump to 315/70/17. The weight increase for all (4) tires is about 24 lbs total, and currently have 4.88 gears and OV tune.

Anyone here made that jump? And if so, has your truck made any noticeable loss in performance?

    Thanks in advance!

I never really thought about it, but I guess if you've got a tune you need to change it if you change wheel size or gear ratios, huh?

Yea, ideally I would update the tune with the new specs.

OK, clearing 34's. . . . NOT so hard after all!

    What it is:
Eibach Pro Lift Springs AND Westcott Fox Pro perch lift w/ CMR & Pinch Weld

    What it did:
CLEARED 34's and NO fender cutting! WHOO! (Falken Wildpeak AT3 285/75-17 on SCS Ray10's -38)

Yes to all. I have the KD Max Pro Tune @PapaRee & @KDtaco. Dave from KD told me to bring the truck to them for an update to the tune. After going beyond a 33" tire you'll start getting that throttle lag and gear hunting again. Not sure about the OV Tune, but KD has tweaks to their tune for taller gearing and tires.

    It’s gonna be tight.

3” is a min. To clear a 34” with minimal additional fabrication. And a CMR really is a must. The CMC won’t do.

hers what I did and I have no issues except a bit of rub in reverse at half to full lock.

3” up front (westcott perch and Eibach pro springs)

rear is Dakar medium packs with 1” eibach block =3.2” lift.

    17” -38 scs ray 10’s w/ falken wildpeaks 285/75 17.

    Alpine designs CMR

    SPC UCA’s.

    Stock trd pro fox shocks

    pinch weld removal

so for the non Pro trucks, you’ll need just around 4” of lift to minimize cutting.

the stance is aggressive with the -38, but I literally have done nothing else to the fender liners. The ride is AMAZING!

Anybody running this size on the 4Runner 17x7s?

I just got the bad news that 285s want an 8" rim at minimum and am looking to confirm.

I ran 315/75/16s (35s) on Toyota 16x7 wheels on my 3rd gen 4Runner for over 10 years with no issues at all. I know of probably another 100 guys or more who’ve run 285s or bigger on 7” wheels. If anything, the skinnier wheels actually help to hold the bead that much better when aired down.

Is it better to run 305/70/17 or 285/75/17? They're both 34's but I think 285/75/17 is easier to fit with -38 offset.

Just received my new Hankook Dynapro Xt Rc10 LT285/75R17’s, FedEx say 60.3lbs each, my bathroom scale showed 60lbs. Measured at little over 33.75”, made in Korea stamped.

Wally World charged me $770.16 + tax for 4 of them, could not pass them up, stoked !

Anyone know what the strap thing is called and where to buy one? I am looking to keep my spare in my bed completely flat (got a hard tri fold cover).
