285 tire for a spare with other 305 tires

    I have 305/65/17 tires and have an extra 285/70/17 will this be ok to use as a spare? they are almost the same size with the 285 being slightly taller about 1/4" & 1" wider, I'd really just be using it as a "flat-tire-spare" to get to tire shop... so as not to be stranded, or need to call AAA.

    I think I can... I just need a logic check on this...

    I wouldn't worry with them being so similar.

    If you want to be extra-cautious, put the odd-sized tire on the front and use 2wd to get to the shop.
