Not the usual 'what do I need to fit 285s '
Can a 285 fit on the stock off road wheels in terms of back spacing and the spindle etc?

Need new winters and thinking match my summers with the 285s only thing I'm not sure about is back spacing and spindle/UCA clearance? Or do you need spacers

You should go skinny for winter tires. 255 or OEM 265.

Myself, I bought 265/75/16 Duratracs, since they have the 3 peak snow designation.

I'm curious too if the 285 would rub, but I wouldn't know. I now use them all year round, as they did just as good as my dedicated winters, which I sold off. (as well as my Krappy Kevlars)...

@Joe23 I have 285 on stock 17" sport rims. All you need is 1.25 spacers.
I have a set of 275 for sale if your interested. But same thing I needed 1.25 spacers then ran them on stock suspension

I have the duratrac, put winters on late one year and it was terrifying. I know they're decent in the winter but it's night and day compared to a dedicated winter.

I was thinking 255 but can't seem to find the Nokian offered in 255

285 would be terrible in the winter during storms.

285s will fit in stock OR rims but will rub uca, cab mount, etc. Need spacers or different wheels. OR wheels are +25 I believe. Why you need spacers. Too much positive offset bringing tire closer to truck. Plenty on here have done it though with spacers

They're literally 3/4 inch wider than oem. You'll be fine

I have run 285-75-16's for 3 years. Have 2"front lift, extra leaf in rear springs. No spacers on stock wheels. I have taken my truck over about every crappy, rocky, snowy roads you could imagine. They dont rub and no problems. Good luck.

I'm on 265/75/16 and had to change rims since they rubbed the factory uca with the factory wheels at lock, even with a lift. 285s in a few days and they're .8" wider. Would've rubbed bad on mine with oem OR wheels

    Howdy,

I have a 3rd Gen Tacoma TRD Sport 4x4 with Bilstein 5100's at 3rd clip up front. Spidertrax 1.25 spacer and Milestar Patagonia 285/70/17. I removed the mud flaps and no rubbing at full lock on either side. I have a video of it on Youtube.

    Hope this helps.

As I said I already have 285 70 17 on a 0mm offset wheel. Already did all the cutting to fit etc.

My issue is with the bumper etc I've already been using the stock wheels with a 265 70 16 winter tire. But those are passenger rated tires and now that I'm 5800lbs unloaded due to armor, bumper batteries etc I need to get LT tires for the winter.

Figured more offered in the 285 size than 255 so was going to go 285 winters on the stock wheels.
But the back spacing was my concern with the UCA and spindle.
I'm on total chaos UCA, dirt king LCA and Fox 2.5.

The body mount etc clearance is no concern that's already cleared. It's just the width on the +25 wheel.

Might have to look into the 255 option instead

they'd be great for the snow actually

but no winters offered in that size.
Might have to just go 265 75 16 for the winters and have small tires
