I’m about about 2” of lift. 285/75r16 with -6 offset. I rubbed a little in the front (until I got a new front bumper). I don’t rub on my cab mount at any position or flex.

Interesting! I'm at -10 offset so I guess that could be why. It does seem like it varies from truck to truck

I only dropped 1-2 mph average on my bump up to 285s, it went down to about 18-19mpgs over the course of three years running them.

Weight gain was negligible, 265/70/17 was 42lbs, 285/70/17 is 45lbs for Nitto TG G2s. Not sure what tires weigh in a 285/75/16 if the OP stays with that wheel size.

Go easy on the weight and tread and mileage isn't that bad.

You will need to do the CMC however, width is the mitigating factor.

Here's my clearance with wheels straight and turned showing closest angle to rub without compression and I have a CMC.

I still need to touch up the inner fenderwell. Wheels are the 4runner Pro wheels and I have a 2 inch lift in front with SPC UCAs to help with alignment and I still rub occasionally backing out of the driveway at an angle.

21' TRD OffRoad 2" 887 OME on Bilstein 5100's. 285/70R17 General Grabbers G3 17x8.5" Icon TRD wheels (Gun metal gray) 4.75" BS
The answer isn't so simple. Does your 22' Pro have the TRD UCA's?
A stock Tacoma can fit 285's on them. The fender well has enough room with some minor trimming of plastic to fit the tires.
    BUT!!
It depends on your wheel choice. Some wheel have more or less offset, and that may cause issues.
Also UCA choice is very important. If you do not want to cut for a CMC? Do not get UCA that adds Caster. Get a set that allows you to correct the Camber and move your tires fully forward. (Adding Caster will move your tires towards the cab mounts) Cheapest and easiest to adjust is SPC but there are other high end UCA's that can do it also. (But most shops don't know how to do it)

Getting bigger tires and a lift is about doing what it will take to get them to work.

Unfortunately, No one can give you a definite answer! Simply by asking "if they can fit" isn't going to give you the right answer.

These trucks/IFS can be adjusted in so many ways, there are so many choices in wheels, that it really depends on the combination of the mods you decide to do. (Oh and remember that all 285's are NOT the same in size depending on the manufacturer, so keep that in mind)

Sorry if this doesn't clear things up. But it is the right answer for your question!

    Good Luck!

Oh I'm running 285/70R17 General Grabbers X3 on 17x8.5 Icon wheels with 4.75" BS and they did NOT Rub even at full stuff on 2" lift with Bilstein's all around.
But I have since added 1.25" wheel spacer and now the will rub the cab mounts while turning and hitting bumps. (But for normal driving on the streets they are fine!) When hunting season starts again, I will either need to remove the wheel spacers or do a CMC. (But this is only because of the wheel spacers)

So mine does have the TRD UCAs. Seems like the wheel width matters just as much if not more. Thansk for all the info. I appreciate it.

265/75/16s are the next best thing and look great too! I tried a set of 285s on trd oem 4runner wheels that belongs to my neighbor and he was doing a tire rotation and drove around some for a day. I'm on Bilsteins and barley got any rub. I think it rubbed the mud guards slightly but the power loss was very noticable and I could see the milage going down. I was no where close to the cab mounts and keep in mind these were BFGs and they run small.I have the KDMAX Pro tune which helps but I enjoy the 265/70/17s and no issues. 285s look great too.

Apparently x3's are pretty puncture resistant too .pulled this out yesterday. It just skipped off the radial .
