Passing on a two-lane road can get dicey. Then again, it's only a 2.4L diesel...

I could easily go back to a solid front axle Toyota truck, with decent leafs and shocks they ride just fine. My favourite old Toyota 4x4 was my 1st gen 4runner though, 22RE 5spd and IFS (1988). I wish Toyota still made something like it.

Still waiting to hear the advantages of SFA in a Tacoma outside of hardcore rock crawler duty.

First gen Tacoma is the closest thing to a first gen 4Runner/second gen mini in the OBDII era. Compact, light, robust IFS setup, great powertrains. A big reason the values are insane despite the frame rust.

Don't get me wrong, solid axle trucks have their place...I own two, but I prefer IFS comfort/service on something I drive every day.

The SFA rides pretty nice with old man emu suspension and hi-steer. The 2.8 liter diesels with aftermarket turbo's do pretty well and are reliable. So an advantage might be easy and cost effective modification. But factory to factory the taco wins on and off road in every category.
