Since this happens on mine so randomly and without warning, how did you know when to video? Did a video make a difference with the dealership?

Yet another dealer trying to weasel their way out of work. Its like they think that we just make up problems with our vehicles because we enjoy wasting our time sitting at the dealer.

I too, recently got back from a couple thousand mile roadtrip. But through the southwest. Oddly enough, I also had a random GPS issue when I was leaving Durango, CO. For some reason it got confused as to what state I was in when I was setting the next address. lol

Other than that, the truck had no issues. Ran like a Swiss watch.

FYI - my 2014 with Nav would do the same thing. It would go blank and reboot on long trips. The dealer down loaded a couple updates and finally got it. I haven't had anymore issues.

My dealer said that they checked the software and that my truck has the latest version. It's frustrating. My truck is still at the dealership. I guess I'm supposed to be more acceptable to no solution if it stays there so long.

Maybe you need an update on the entune. My 2nd gen entune nav was nutty and would lockup till I downloaded the newest version.

Smitty99, it looks like you troll all the post. Why does it bother you if someone changes his oil? Go troll elsewhere!

Not trolling. Trying to save resources and your time and money. A lot of misinformation out there.

@Mach428 is in FL. 30 days isn't the standard in FL.

In order for your car to be considered a lemon, the following must have occurred within 24 months following the date of delivery (the Lemon Law Rights Period):

    • The vehicle defect or condition must "substantially impair the use, value, or safety" of the vehicle.
    • The vehicle must have undergone at least 3 attempts to repair the same issue.
    • The vehicle must have out of service for repair of the defect for 15 days or more.

Only if you do repeated short trips (Less than 5 minutes) in temperatures below 32F - otherwise Toyota recommends 1st oil change at 10k / 12 months. Oddly enough, the Canadian manual mentions nothing about the repeated cold weather trips.

Right from the U.S owners manual :

I see what you did there. Hope it is realized that the Lemon Law comment was tongue in cheek as I believe others' similar comments were in this thread.

If you want to change your oil sooner then so be it. Anyone that wants to, go ahead. The only reason I am doing it is because I have a 6400 mile trip ahead of me. I will not stop to get my oil changed. I have way better things to be doing.

Here's the latest. I picked up my truck today and was told that they stripped all of my contacts and unpaired my phone from the system. Toyota wants me to drive it for 3 days and see if the system reboots. If not, I can pair my phone and drive for 3 days. If it still doesn't, well they haven't thought that far.

Can you believe this? What If it does reboot, then what? I was told that these instructions came straight from Toyota

Yes I can believe it. There are members here with far worse problems that Toyota Service and Corporate has shown little to no confidence in a resolution going forward.

Considering the source, I'm not surprised one bit. Refer to Post #14
