Ok guys, just looking for some opinions here. Can you guys recommend any good 295/70r17s and 33x12.5r17s? And if you had the choice, which size tire would you run? Im currently running a 285/70r17, just doesnt look big enough anymore. Really want something to fill up the wheel wells, and give good on and offroad performance. Thanks guys

u going for look or use for the off road... cuz if ya go big with the tires your gonna need to trim a lot and sometimes thats not enough.... its just gonna depend on how much u "stuff" the tire...

The trick is clearance for turning when stuffed, or hard landings that really compress the suspension, right?

I'm really happy with how my 285/70R17's look, but then I've got a std cab so the wheels are proportionally larger compared to the truck.

My two cents is that if you really feel the need to go larger, you probably won't notice the diff between 285 and 295 - and you'll need to go to 305 or 33x12.5 to get the visual "pop" you're looking for.

But you're on your own once it comes to making the things fit once you've got 'em. Does anyone run that size without having gone to an aftermarket bumper?

ya there are quite a few people on here that are running a 33x12.5 with the stock bumper. think ill go that route. now just to find a good tire

wait time out...i thought that the 295/70 was like a 34x12????

I think they are 33.5" to be exact also depends on tire... Someone correct me if I am wrong...

I'd go for the 295/70/17 Nitto Trail grapplers!

depends on who makes them for the actual size. not 17's, but the hankook dynapro 295/75/16 is 33.6 x 11.6. so compared to most 285's, which are usually somewhere between 32.5-32.8, they are around an inch taller, but the same width. i plan on going with those next time. the 285 is a tad too small, and the 33x12.5 is a tad too wide.

I remember I thought the same thing. I used the tire calculator in another thread, but someone told me that they nittos and toyos are actually larger than what the calculator says.

I would love those tires. Called a few places to check on them, but most places are out of stock and say that they are on dealer back order. Theres a few other places that Ill call and check. See if I cant get a good price on them. They're kind of $$, but look bad ass and I think worth it

I think your right. But at the same time, I was looking at the truck from a few different angle yesterday, and think that the size looks ok. So if I did go with a 295 but with a more aggressive pattern than what I have, I think that'll do the trick. Thank you everyone for your help. So hopefully I can order the Trail Grapplers soon. Found em for 259 a piece online, anyone know of any other places to order them from? I may call 4 wheel parts.. I know..I know.. but when I ordered my terra grapplers, I saw them for cheaper online and they beat it by a good deal. So I may just see what they have to offer again.

I would rather have a fully functional truck that doesn't sound like you're ripping the fenders off when fully turnad or off road rather than a stuffed wheel well. Just my .02

Truck is functional. Running 285s now and they just dont look big enough, and I'm not currently close to rubbing. Not necessarily looking to "stuff" the wheel wells. Just want something that looks better imo. Besides, there are plenty of guys "stuffing" there 3" lifts with 35s and have great functionality out of them
