i was just wondering if many people on here has 295's, if so, i have a few questions. i will be getting new tires sometime and have been really going back and forth between the 285's and 305's. but here recently i noticed the 295 and it seems like a good size. the 305's are basically a true 33x12.5, so that's a little too wide. the 285's are like 32.8x 11.25 and that's not much bigger than a 265/75. but the 295's actually range from 33.4 to around 34 and about 11.6 wide. one reason i want to lean away from the 305's or true 33s is because i don't want to chop the cab mount. but these 295's are an inch more narrow and a tad taller, so would that eliminate my rubbing there? also, i know some guys on here even chop the cab mount with 285's. but is that for more serious off roading to allow for flexing or is it for any use? because this truck is going to stay on pavement a pretty good bit until it's paid off. used strictly on the road, will these be an issue with the cab mounts? also, i have 2.5 in the front and 2 in the rear, plus 4.5 backspacing wheels. i realize that i will i have to cut out some plastic in the fenders and that's fine, i just don't want to get into anything more intense than that, lol.

also anybody that considered or has 295's, why did you or did you not get them? are there any pros or cons with these compared to 285s and 305s? if its more trouble than it's worth to make these work, please let me know. if this is no trouble to make work without getting into the cab mount, please let me know. also, this is somewhat of an odd size and there are few brands to chose from. does anyone know a brand that makes this size to suggest? the only ones i've seen are hankook, general grabber, bf goodrich, and a couple others. i want more of an at or mt aggressive tire. i know it's asking a lot, but there is not much info on this size tire, nor many people that have them. so anybody with these or info on these, please help me out because i don't want to try to do things on my own and get myself in a mess.

    thanks guys

do you know if he did that to allow for some serious off roading? or if it's gonna have to be done no matter what?

He had a lot of rubbing while turning in reverse. It was also done to allow for more clearance offroading and he has an aftermarket front bumper so I'm not sure how much cutting or trimming you will have to do in front of the tire.

I think i have a idea what constitutes getting the cab chop, with stock UCAs I never rubbed the cab mount, but when I got UCAs and the right specs, I can no longer make U turns. I have 285s BTW

ok, i'm looking at hankook dynapro mt's. the actuall size of the 285/75/16 is 33x11.6 and the 295/75/16 is 33.6x 11.6. so is .6 of an inch going to make a ton of difference?

Well I finally got around to getting these and having them put on. I had to drive a little careful on the way home to not rip my fenders and bumper off. But I got home, checked everything and cut back a few hunks of plastic on the inner rear fender and on the front fender/bumper. I had no trouble with the cab mount. I am clear lock to lock; even with the tires at the angle closest to the cab mount I have about 3/8-1/2'' clearance. I even tested my trimming on a small trail and had no rubbing. So as of now, no cab mount chop needed on my 295/75/16's (33.6'' x 11.6'').
