So the 2GR-FKS has D-4S and Atkinson Cycle. The HP Out-Put is 278 hp at 6000 rpm and 265 lb-ft at 4600 rpm. So this is the same design as the new 2015 Lexus GS 350 but the Lexus is rated at 311 hp at 6400 rpm and 280 lb-ft at 4800 rpm.

    Could you swap ECU's

    Is it Exhaust?

    Is it the Intake Manifold?

    Is it the Intake?

What is the potential for the All New 2GR-FKS?

Some one will sell a chip that will allow you to get 300 hp with high test gas.....just an uneducated guess. But, wtf good does all that HP do in a truck with just a little more torque..then you can rev it up to 6500 and drive on the Autobahn.

Im sure its tuned conservatively for mpg. ill be anxious to try the ect mode. some performance testing between the 2 modes would be nice too.

Id really like to see some 0-60 tests as its a good measure of performance. Im not very familiar with toyotas, bit i would think someone will come out with a tuner, much like they did for the new colorado. The trifecta tuner is unlocking between 25-30 ft lbs, and 20-25 whp across the rpm range. Thats a respectable increase, and i hope they come out with something similar for the taco.

The official and unofficial times for the 4.0 are 7.3 to 7.5 0 to 60
The Colorado is unofficial a little faster at 7.0 to 7.3 in times I have seen listed.
Anything from 7.0 to 7.5 wouLd be acceptable for all but the "never happy till it out runs a Vette crowd".

The Problem with Toyota ECU's they are known to be the Fort Knox of ECU codes. Tough Codes to Crack. We are Curious what an intake and Exhaust will do to these Engines. They are an Open Deck Design so not a great design for boost, but the previous 1GR-FE was open Deck Design as well and that didn't stop TRD from putting superchargers on them. The Atkinson Cycle is not impossible to put forced induction though. We have seen the New "8AR-FTS" Lexus has made.

agreed, and i would expect it should be in that range, although i am hoping its closer to 7.0 than 7.5.

When I leave the public landing where I launch my 17 foot crestliner, the road enters a four lane highway with 55 mph speed limit. There is a hill on the right with drivers coming down at 65 and one on the left I must accelerate up to merge. Without the boat, if I floor it, I am doing over 70 mph by the time I get to the top. What impressed me about the 4.0 is that..with my fishing boat in tow, I am still doing over 60 when I get to the top.......if the 3.5 can do that, I would be happy.
