I see adding a dedicated physical switch is optional, is that something sold here too, or is it something i'd have to configure?

Speaking for @Grant83 and @Up2NoGood (without their permission)

They are not selling a physical switch.
That is something you would have to purchase (and find to fit one of the differently sized locations available on your truck).
You would then take the cover off the module and adjust the jumper shown.
    upload_2021-4-7_11-53-53.jpg

You would then wire your added switch to the the a pair of unused wires in the 2Lo harness that are provided for that function.

As this can be done at a later date, I would suggest first installing without the added switch. If you find that you would prefer to have the physical switch at a later date, install it then.
(I have a switch ready to go, but I never installed it, as the built-in activation is more than sufficient and doesn't require another switch spot in the dash.)

Per my memory, the only functionality that the added switch gives you is that if you don't have the separate switch, if you shut off the truck in 2lo, when you restart it, the truck will be in 4lo (unless you reactivate the module by holding the 4wd switch between settings before turning key to Acc)...

I have found I personally rarely (never) shut the truck off in 2lo. I might leave it idle for a minute while I check a clearance on a trailer, but I don't really shut it off until I am done with 2lo.

This is all correct except you are able to remain in 2lo without the added switch if you shut the truck off, but you do need to hold the 4wd selector switch between 4hi and 4lo before you turn the key to ACC. It's something that comes up so infrequent for most that they forget about this, however with the switch you don't have to remember anything... the module will detect the switch is still pressed in and will keep you in 2lo as a result.

Wasn't there a link to the switches somewhere? I just went through all 9 pages, but could've sworn there was discussion in here. Or anyone know the center console switch for 12-15?

Here are a couple of hookup options specifically for the Air on Board switches. I've never used the CH4x4 switches but I imagine they are probably similar in the wiring configuration (although I'm not suggesting this sketch would apply to CH4x4)

I just went ahead and ordered an air on board switch. I don’t have to add any fuses or anything right?
