I dont see how it would affect anything. Pretty sure my 96 only has one big plug because its the older vacuum assisted one.

heres a writeup i did a while ago on the same subject :anonymous:

this is good advice... I had to redo mine after a few months with another bag and some silicone tape.
the t case gets just warm enough to make the tape super soft and it gets really gooey after a while...

Now see if the ADD ever engages (actually in 4WD). Not just the front drive shaft spinning.

The "4wd position" switch on the transfer case confirms to the 4WD controller that the transfer case has and is finished with shifting into 4WD. The 4wd controller (ECU) must see that the transfer has shifted into 4WD before allowing the ADD system to engage.

Unplugging the blue Jesus plug does not disable 4WD in general.

I can verify that I have had a working selectable 4WD system since I did the mod in 2010 (see my page 2 response). Not sure if that's what you're getting at here, but there's no question about whether or not 4WD still works when the button is pushed.

Not enough to have a build thread.
I didn't realize you did the "write up" for this @JLee. Thank you. I use this mod all the time. Makes backing a trailer into a driveway and not burning up a clutch a lot easier.

Just did this, it worked great for pulling my travel trailer up a steep driveway.
Any chance anybody knows the name or part number of that style plug? I want to get blanks to plug into the sockets instead of messing about with tape and silicone.
